I do still watch the Red Sox as I really don't have much else to do at my age. I really don't care much about football any more with all the new rules and the BS with not standing for the national anthem. The baseball package is still a bargain for the 162 game price but footballs 16 game package is ridiculous in price. I am glad I am an old man and was able to see baseball and football when they were fun games to watch. The money they pay these players, in all sports, has ruined the games in my opinion.
How painful is John Valentin to listen to in the booth? His constant use of "right there" and butchering of the English language that a 5 year old could correct is abysmal. Worse than Timlin! I finally had to mute the sound, just couldn't endure another "right there" and is woeful attempt at being an analyst. Yo John, maybe Wendy's is for you.
I guess Remy is a day to day thing, dunno...I think it's time for Jerry to enjoy his recliner, new tv and his pension. I say bring on Eck, high cheese, iron and moss, he's entertaining for sure.
Gotta hand it to the Indians, what an accomplishment!! I'll bet Tito is lovin' life.
Even Steve Lyons would be an improvement from the bozo's they have been putting on there. He was found innocent of the domestic violence charges so why not bring him back?
Now Saltalamacchia in the booth? He's about as bad as Valentin, could be worse.
He got on this ghost thing about the the hotel the team is staying in in Tampa, and relates ghost stories... that his grandmother (deceased), was standing next to his mother when he was being born, and the grandmother says "don't worry, he's gonna be ok". Then O'Brien chimes in with "I think there are good ghosts and ghosts that are out to get ya". Really Dave?
That did it for me...switched and gone, now we're into the paranormal garbage.
Yank announcers talked about Sox steller 15-3 record in extra inning games this year. It is the 25th best extra inning game record in baseball history since 1901. That is amazing. Think of all the teams and their records since 1901 in extra innings. Almost 3000 and this is the 25th best
That is the problem with the Sox, they do not get the hits to drive in the runs early and rely too much on pitching to win games for them. It gets tougher in the post season as you face better hitting teams that will get their runs early in spite of good pitching.
Great winning streak by the Sox . They are putting it together at the right time.
The Patriots on the other hand disgust me with only 5 standing for our national Anthem. Tom Brady gave his usual great performance though with 5 touchdown passes. If they win anything this year it will be because of him.
Well they done burned Chris Sale to a crisp , get out the brooms.
I missed the game where Sale got his 300th strike out. I was aware of it but today someone told me he was out of the game and then Farrell put him back in just to get that. I swear he is the stupidest manager I've ever seen , even Mike Tomlin wouldn't do that
Here comes there'd Sox train backing into the station .
The celebration will begin as soon as the YANKEES LOSE ANOTHER GAME.
This is the best the al east has to offer my friends.
They must not forget to renew Farrell's contract.
Even i with nothing better to do find going to bed even more exciting that watching them play another game.
Just another wait until next year moment.
as I posted in the MLB prediction thread, the Red Sox are a little banged up and slumping at exactly the wrong time. I don't follow them close enough to know how "deep" they are, but if they have the players to slide in at times like this they'll be OK. if not, the end is in sight.
last season the Indians were short handed at seasons end and they were able to fight through it --- to a point. once they reached the WS against the Cubs in game five it all showed itself in spades, they weren't deep enough.
Hang in there Pitboss, never know, there might be a miracle about to happen. Remember 2004 !!
Hey, it's only baseball...lots of college ball to watch.
If you have Netflix, there are a ton of English murder mystery series to enjoy...if you like English mysteries that is. Foyle's War would be a good place to start!

I like Foyle's war a lot , the long format kind of reminds me of the old murder movie shows on US tv , I think it was wednesday nights thru the mid 70's . They would rotate columbo ,mc millian and wife and a few others that slip my mind , Cannon or McCloud maybe , much better to have 90 minutes to really develop each mystery rather than cram it into an hour minus commercials.
Acorn TV on Roku is all British shows and it costs 4.99 a month , some good stuff on there too.

Never watch movies as they are too hard to hear at one point and then so loud they blast you out and with my hearing aids it is no fun.
The Yankees have 2 more chances to get a loss before there is a 1 game playoff with the for the division.
If the sox get through the 1st round they will be lucky.
in a way they are in the first round right now and not doing very well. for one of the worst scenarios possible for the Red Sox, think about what a Saturday loss and a Yankees win would do!!! that would really crank up the stress level for the players. right now they face a potential of four very high stress level games in a row in consecutive days at a time when they are faultering.
a week to 10 days ago Boston looked to be in command of their destiny, what changed??
The Yanks have been winning at a 700 clip in September. One of their best September's in team history....led by Aaron Judge and his 13 hr's and 12 game hitting streak
I just delight in seeing the Yankees get beaten by the Red Sox. Been to too many Sox-Yanks games in Fenway I guess. Mostly tongue in cheek, I don't think my team will go far, we'll see.
I've been saying that they were overworking Sale. For months everyone else has been also. The Red Sox knew he could potentially falter from over work so did they just have him pitch more innings than any other pitcher just to prove they were smart ? He has given up a whole bunch of home runs in a very short span here , but he did get 300 strike outs as if anyone could possibly care
Also why is the game on the MLB network? incredibly stupid , Do even half the houses in the country get that?

I can only agree, the only consolation being that the MLB network has the early games today and Friday so I won't miss much, I have to work.
people have been talking all September about Sale collapsing at the end of each season and he sure did that today --- seven runs in five+ innings.........................OUCH.

I live here in Boston and NESN , which is the red sox network has 2 channels but neither one carries the game. NESN proper is showing a Bruins game which is fine , but NESN+ has absolutely nothing on . I"m not sure but I think the team owns , or part owns the NESN channel
Football on Thursday night might be on the NFL network nationwide but the Patriots games are always simulcast on a local channel even in preseason , I assume thats true for other teams but maybe it isn't. The idea that they would black out local fans in the playoffs is mind boggling . I have MLB but I don't know why , its just there I didn't buy it on purpose , at least a channel like ESPN is available on every dish or cable provider.

Well, how 'bout the Yankees game on FS1 ??
I saw part of the game at a friends house I didn't know what channel it was on . Are you saying people in New York had to watch on FS1? I guess I thought they would see it on YES
FS1 comes with basic cable. Sox and Sale looked terrible. They got lucky bounces all year and are much worse then their final record. I was more afraid of the Twins then the Sox.
I don't get YES, but I think the Yankees game was broadcast on both YES and FS1. The Red Sox game tomorrow is on FS1.
No doubt tons of Red Sox fans don't get anything but NESN...money screwed all this up.
Geez...what ever happened to channel 4 in Boston with Curt Gowdy?
Aaron Judge am afraid.. is, yes quite the stud muffin... but. his brain has no chance against the real world. If I were him I'd get all the chicks he could now.
NESN started this crap in the early 80's with Bruins games. I remember being pissed I could only see away games that were on TV38 . Cable didn't come to where I lived until 86.
I didn't waste my time with the Yankees broadcast and only glanced at the Pats game...however, looks like the Yankees didn't do much against the Indians and got the big ZERO.
was not able to get Yanks on YES, but I do have FS1. Do not have MLB network. I guess I will have to go to a bar and watch from there. Yanks and Sox seem outmatched.
Ramirez was gloating yesterday when he got a hit after being left off the lineup. I hope he is in somebody elses lineup next year. Red sox view it this year when they did not sign a good dh that wanted to come to Boston and it was all downhill from there. They got burned with fat boy, Ramirez and a $30 million pitcher. Poor front office mistakes. They kept a lousy manager and let a good one get away. I would say wait until next year but it will not be any better.
We were both wrong my friend. Our two misfits came through today for sure. I was watching the Nascar race until Devers put them ahead. Hopefully this is the spark they need to go forward. Maybe it will go back to the Boston Braves days of Spahn, Sain and pray for rain day tomorrow.
I don't get the firing of Farrell. They won back to back Al East championships. He won a World Series. It's not his fault their top pitchers can't pitch in the post season. Blame the GM. I thought Boston played 8 or so games above their potential all year long. They really are not a 93 win team. They got rid of Tito and he goes to Cleveland and is considered a "genius". Let's see where Farrell winds up and what he does.
It's funny how the AL East managers get fired and wind up on world series teams; Maddon, Tito

T - O - A - S - T
doing some surfing and found out I do have MLB TV. Watching Yanks now
Kluber struggling in 1st, 2 run hr, double that was crushed, 36+ pitches. errors in the field on hard hit grounder
