Here is a Massachusetts Pine Tree three pence. These little coins are actually much scarcer than their shilling counterparts, but, as usual, the "bigger is better" attitude carrrys the day. As a result you will pay about the same price for these coins in the same grade as their larger counterparts.

May I take a wild guess at the grade of that fantastic coin ?

PCGS graded it AU-55.
I saw a couple of these in the EF grades, and to be honest there is not a lot of difference on these pieces between the EF and AU levels. The reason is that the design does not have much detail. It's just the tree and the letters, and the tree doesn't have an veins in the leaves or any other microscopic detail like that.
These coins were often crudely struck, and they didn't have the protective rims that are on modern coins. Therefore it didn't take that much wear to start to lose some major detail. I know this sounds snobby, but I really don't care for these coins in less than Choice VF.
Here is Small Size Massachusetts Pine Tree shilling. This was my first piece of Massachusetts silver. I failed to buy this coin in an auction many years ago. A couple of years later I bought this coin at a Boston Bay State coin show. A few months after that I ran across the auction catalog where it had been listed. When I compared to the pictures, I was amazed to find that it was the same coin! PCGS graded this piece VF-35. I thought that it would make EF-40 when I submitted it.
