i took a gamble on the 20 or so boxes i purchased...finding jordans showing on the fronts and backs of several packs + averaging 2-3 base jordans per box(several different jordan cards in the 91 fleer series 1 boxes) has reassured me they are legit

I got 3 Jordans per box from 90 Fleer, but when I opened a box of 90 Fleer last year every Jordan had a dot on the bottom border. I opened a box yesterday (from a different source) and the same thing happened. I'm guessing the small dot will keep them all from being 10s, even 9s.

it does seem quite absurd that someone would pay that for such a common card...i have stacks of these and the 90 jordan card that could very well grade a 10, and im sure im not the only one who has been busting box after box(that were recently less than $10 each) in search of these...unless psa is purposely tough on them now, i bet we see a pop boom in 9s and 10s in the near future

Given the VCP and availability of this card the situation smells funny to me:

No way the $855 price point that was realized is sustained as the market will undoubtedly get flooded with these soon.

I agree that is why I sold when I did. That being said you can row out all vcp prices of Jordan prior to mid May when his cards exploded. There is one current auction now at $202 with 8 days left and a $1100 bin/Bo. You would expect to see 20+ of these listed after my sale earlier this week. With a pop of 177, and the worldwide popularity of Jordan I can see a sustainable price below the current sales mark but well above previous sales. Even if everyone that is rushing to sub these now on bulk subs we are looking at a few months before they get their grades back and when they do, is PSA going to a sudden tighten their standards on a card with colored borders that chips easy? All that being said I wa happy and amazed at the price it went for. You also will notice it is only his basic fleer and stickers that are doing this, collectors like doing basic runs that cover a players entire career or close to it. No major hoops or skybox explosion. That is the power of the Registry and collectors who are willing to spend 25-35k on a 1986 PSA 10 not thinking much of dropping just under 1k on a card to help complete the run.

The madness continues. As of this morning BBCE is just about completely sold out of all early '90's basketball.

Agreed. There are literally thousands of potential PSA 10s of these cards sitting in boxes and cases right now that no one ever thought worth the time or effort to bust open. Look for pop reports to skyrocket if this keeps up.

If this is rooted in competition, then the interest will subside when the Registry winners get their ribbons. Perception, however, may take a bit longer to be altered, if at all. The "other" competition, of course, is Ebay itself. As of now, there are many sellers feasting on opportunities never considered, so what happens when they purge their Jordan collections to the bone? #NextBigThing.

Let's see what the Jordans look like from pjb's 20 box case...if he can share some pics.

Like I said, from my experiences, it's much tougher to find a perfect copy and get a PSA 10 than you would think with those 1991 Fleer #29 Jordan cards.

75 bids to reach this mark, this just gets smellier and smellier.

    Jordan #29 PSA 10

And the BIN is now asking $1500. Interesting.

I am pretty sure I know who at least one of the bidders is on this one. He was the under bidder on mine and won a couple of other auctions. He bids until he has the high bid and then if he is outbid he bids again. Fairly new eBay bidder but he paid immediately on the auctions he won from me.

so seems like the early 90s Jordan madness has cooled to normalcy. still much higher prices, but more reasonable. So following up on my 10 boxes of 90 fleer that I ripped during that two week craziness, here's my PSA sub results. Overall pleased. Wished I could have gotten these in a few weeks ago. Still shows that these are pretty tough to pull gem

Followed the pricing and this one has been interesting. Huge ride up and then a huge ride down over the down if 6 weeks. Went from a $45 card in April to a $270 card in June and now a $75-90 card in early July. Wonder what made it jump 5 fold in one month and then back down to normal levels.

The rise in prices in 1989 Fleer pushed the interest and prices up for 1990 Fleer...but then I think people realized the 1991 solid border Fleer cards were even tougher to pull in Gem condition. The 1991 Fleer Jordan PSA 10s are still selling in the $300 to $400 range...compared to about $40 to $50 in May.

I think in many ways cards are like stock charts. I trade as well and there are many similarities. This could be the chance to buy the dip in a new uptrend or they could fizzle all the way back and go dormant again. The old HOF cards are still making new highs and up trending without looking back. Would be healthy for some price consolidation for a few months. The question is at what prices? I don't think the high quality stuff is a bubble waiting to burst but more of a consolidation coming. The newer stuff has higher chance of popping and fizzling.

Prices were bound to pull back for these cards after a period of irrational exuberance fueled by speculators. Just too much unopened product out there still readily available from this era.

Have the 1992 stadium club Jordan's doubled and tripled in price too or have the increases just been contained to the 90s Fleer?

Primarily fleer and the 89 Hoops which has leveled back down as well.

89 hoops I hadn't noticed those but see it now too. I took a look at the unopened packs too and of course 1986 fleer sticker showing packs have taken off but don't know if you saw the 1988's too.

    PSA 8 May 31 $150

I recently opened a '90 rack box and got 2 Jordan AS cards and 10 regular Jordan's. All of the Jordan's were sharp but not one was centered perfect. A couple were close enough for a 10 but I might be overly optimistic.

Good luck. The 91 and 92s are tough due to the border chipping.
