58+ Buffalos

ad4400ad4400 Posts: 2,046 ✭✭✭✭✭
Just got my 15-S back from reconsideration where it scored the 58+ I thought it would. This is the third piece that is, or was, part of my collection to be graded 58+ out of a total population of 11 for the entire set. Two of the 11 are the three leg variety, so excluding those, pieces I own or owned make up a third of the population. Below are the images. The 14-S got the designation upon consignment and sold for silly money, and to this day I'm not sure I would have given it that designation. The 15-S and 25-D happily reside in my set and I feel are well worthy.

I assembled my set looking for the best struck and overall nicest AU pieces I could find, well before the + designation. The set resided in an album for many years. Since I've gone about slabbing, three of the ones purchased AU have come back MS (62, 63 63) , and now these 58+s appear to carry more market value that 62s for sure. I have a couple more AU pieces to get slabbed and I am particularly hopeful on my 23-S.

If it's a Gold 58, that means it is MS.

Hmmm... The 14-D looks MS to me. I don't see how that coin could be AU.
