Pics always make it hard. Best guess says 53. There are some strike issues on both sides, but the luster is good. Again, pics make it hard, and balancing the luster against the strike against the actual wear I would believe you if you told me anything from 45 to 58. I'd love it as a 50, but I bet it's slabbed better.
Tough issue, I gather. I see this right up against the big price jump, the kind of coin somebody wants to buy on one side and sell on the other.
Just a few things worthy of consideration when offering an opinion on this coin- The type II obverse often looks weak so in evaluating the fields, lustre is becomes even more significant. While the reverse does not carry the grade, it does help and support an AU grade for this coin.

I'd go EF-45 on it. It appears to have some luster in the protected areas. The hair detail looks weak, but that is probably a strike issue.
It would not surprise me to see it an AU-50 holder, however.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
