One of my favorite times of the year. The only new product I rip, and I savor it. I'll open my first box of the case on Saturday, hopefully in front of the Dodgers' 1st televised Cactus League game on MLB network (still feels wrong that they're not in Vero Beach this time of year). It'll take me about a week to finish opening the 12 boxes.

Looking forward to seeing everybody's hits and trading with the regulars (and maybe some newbies?) to help me finish off my "master" set.

    Have fun, Heritage gang!

Hi, Andy! Good luck with your rip!

Yes and enjoy . Mine should be here today.

Last month Blowout Cards listed twenty "errors" from the 1967 Topps set, and three of those track with the list on page 5 of the thread.
    5. Whitey Ford: 1953 stats listed as 1933.
    25. Bob Priddy: error was corrected concerning trade.
    45. Roger Maris: error had him as a Yankee, not a Cardinal. (on page 5 list)
    58. Paul Schaal: printing error shows top part of bat as green.
    72. Rookie Stars: wrong photo; George Korince photo is believed to be James Brown.
    86. Mike McCormick: bio changes at bottom of card after trade from Senators to Giants.
    128. Ed Spiezio: error has bat obscuring most of name; corrected. (on page 5 list)
    164. Dwight Siebler: 1966 stats listed as 1960; uncorrected.
    200. Willie Mays: played for "Sna Fran" in 1963; uncorrected.
    250. Hank Aaron: 1961 stats listed twice; uncorrected.
    254. Milt Pappas: no facsimile auto; uncorrected. (on page 5 list)
    328. Clete Boyer: 1966 stats missing; uncorrected.
    374. Mel Queen: card comes with or without a black line under his stat total line.
    385. Jim Fregosi: right handed batter shown as a lefty.
    402. Rookie Stars: missing line under stats; corrected.
    417. Bob Bruce: played for "Rhaves"; corrected.
    427. Ruben Gomez: stats total line was mostly obscured; corrected.
447 Bo Belinsky: 1967 (sic) season partly obliterated; corrected.
    454. Juan Marichal: Checklist card: part of his left ear is missing on some versions.
    456. Phil Niekro: ERA of .288; uncorrected.

    Heritage addicts---

Good to see all familiar names again, and some new. Must admit that I wavered a bit this year about buying, but the

addiction took over. You all are way ahead of me as far as opening is concerned. Have only opened two boxes and results

are not good . Out of the two, I have exactly 130 duplicates--Yikes. Things have to get better. Nothing major in either

box-- red Dexter Fowler. The second box had the grapes, so did get a Bryant. Am giving up on the chromes this year

too much frustration on trying to complete. No codes!!!! Will take me til the World Series to get this figured.

Just noticed something weird about the color swaps. With the Stanton Topps cropped his photo differently, and with the Wacha they didn't crop the photo, but they made the facsimile signature smaller. Seems like odd and unnecessary things to do.

5 boxes arriving tomorrow. Waiting is always the hardest part. Aside from no Yaz the lack of specific codes on the back is annoying and 1 auto or relic per box pretty much blows too.

I haven't checked for retail yet-the Walmart here is rather limited in Heritage usually blasters.
The closest Target is 45 miles away with another Walmart there. I do usually drive up once per Heritage season.

I picked up one box from my hobby store. I don't like it at all I think I'm done this year. This will be the first year I haven't completed a heritage set.
Best of luck to the rest of you have fun and enjoy the hunt.

    Hi George

Good to see you around. Topps has not made it easy for us to enjoy these heritage sets the past few years. I got in an argument on another message board voicing my displeasure with
heritage and ginter this past year and people think I am crazy. All these young kids who have been only collecting for a few years think these are great products. Even with the nostalgia topps has duplicating the set you would think they have easy winners every year, but they diluted the set each year now. The only reason I bought my boxes was to make trades here.

If you find yourself needing singles let me know. Maybe you try for a Trout rainbow with the chromes...lol

Thanks buddy nice to see you around also, I guess I'm getting grumpy as I get older lol. I find it terrible this year and the last complete of sets didn't do much for me either. Best of luck with your trades Waalt.

bummer george, sorry to hear all the dour feelings here. I think the set is chalk-full of value and lots of things to find in the cases. Not sure how it can be considered watered down. There's never been more value in a heritage case. Now, you could make an argument that the quality of the card stock doesn't really replicate the original very well.....i am disappointed in that. That was always better in the early years.

Question: Relics, chrome, refractors, purple, black, etc - are any of these realistic from a set builder's perspective, or are they purely player/team collector oriented?

From a player collector perspective, is it realistic from a time, money, storage perspective to go after everything from every product each year?
  • Options
That's why my player collections are mostly vintage and nothing after 1994. It would be a nightmare chasing all the parallels in this day and age.

my break is posted over on blowout - box breaks - has all the pics. I don't come round here much anymore.....but still like all the guys here.

    "break on blowout"

keep me in mind for any extra refractors #/567.

i have found that each case indeed yields a master set 1-500 + insert sets....also collation is really good and yields 4 additional base sets 1-425 per case.

So just finished box 1. Was not loving the grainy looking pics. But near the end if the box I started warming to it a bit.

I finally got a relic of a player I actually collect which was a nice change.

    Box Topper: 67 Buyback
    Relic: Kershaw jersey
    /567: Harvey
    /999: Burns
    SP: 8
    Gum: 1
Action: 1 that I noticed (Boegarts)
    NAP: 3
    FB: 2
    BFB: 2
And I did get a Bryant, Conforto dual, and a Seager solo and dual

I have not yet checked for errors or color swaps, and wish they had codes to help out the process.

    About to start box 2.

    NAP: 3

I'll hopefully find swaps and errors during the set building process.
