Kinda bummed on the chrome refractors. I was hoping one per box. I'm collecting all the refractors back to 2003. Got the 2001 and 2002 chrome sets, not sure I'm up to chase the refractors again, but I probably will. I'll be retiring from Heritage in 2022, 1973 was the end of my pack busting youth. Seems like an appropriate time to stop.

This is my first Heritage case purchase since 2011. Of course 1967 is my favorite set. Not sure why folks jump at the super short prints so early. I've been purchasing complete sets each September for $200 or so. If I come across any SSP or variations I'll post the card code. Going to look over box #1 to check codes. Honestly, the color on the 2016 Heritage just doesn't pop off the card like my 1967 set.
Early info indicated that the code trick will not work this year for finding ssp's. So far the glossy backs and gum stain backs Have been confirmed. How cool would it be if topps inserted ssp error cards randomly in packs, so you couldn't tell by the code or the placement in packs, but only by studying the cards and card backs.
I'm not sure that would be "cool". Reading the micro print codes at my age is a pain in the a$$. The 426-500 cards all have the same code as regular cards: CMP017299
What info makes you believe the codes aren't in play for 2016?

Probably pulled the only auto in the case in the first box
Don't disagree, getting an auto in box #1 is pretty sweet. (top center box of the case btw)
For all code hunters, sorted the first box, all set cards in box #1 have the same code. I'll keep looking but Walt has me paranoid I might now miss a subtle variation SSP worth $$$$. I'll pay close attention to the card numbers from the 1967 set that had variations. I haven't followed SSP variations much the last few years, do they still seem to trend the same as the original set?
i would recommend you do not rush to sell. put all your stuff in order and wait for the breakers to break. plenty of info will be available in a weeks time.
Also, the Seager auto is one of the best you can get.

AND.... I think I have a SP variation of #400 Andrew McCutchen. As Walt suggested, the code is the same as the other cards but this is an "in action" photo. His cards I see on Ebay are portrait shots. I'd be curious if others come across this card. McCutchen is completing his swing, all white Pirates uniform (retro) 1971.
"One new wrinkle that will likely draw the ire of many collectors deals with the code on the card back. Long used to help differentiate the various variations from the base cards, we have been informed that this is no longer the case and all code numbers are now the same. This makes the card front differences that much more important and removes a viable backup option for determining variations."

Wouldn't it be really easy to fake one of those now that all the cards have the same back code? Or are there other differences to know it's a 'factory' gum stain?
Instead of hurting the collector by making all the codes the same, Topps should have figured out how to keep all the clubhouse collection cards from ending up in the same spot in every box.
One of my favorite times of the year. The only new product I rip, and I savor it. I'll open my first box of the case on Saturday, hopefully in front of the Dodgers' 1st televised Cactus League game on MLB network (still feels wrong that they're not in Vero Beach this time of year). It'll take me about a week to finish opening the 12 boxes.
Looking forward to seeing everybody's hits and trading with the regulars (and maybe some newbies?) to help me finish off my "master" set.
I have decided to jump on the Heritage band wagon this year as 1967 Topps is one of my favorite sets ever. I picked up 2 hobby boxes from the local card shop tonight and busted one. I got lucky and it was a hot box with a purple refractor in every pack. Also hit a Jon Gray RC Auto, Billy Hamilton Action variation, Miguel Carbrera chrome & a Matt Harvey Chrome Refractor. The box topper was a Mark Teixeira poster. Almost all the purple refractors were star players with the best one being 2016 Cubs Rookie Stars w/ Schwarber.
I have not had a chance to go through and check for color swaps, gum stains or high number short prints yet.
I don't know a lot about the Heritage product but that seems like a pretty good box to me!

2 Questions: I'm not a huge fan of the gum stain cards. I pulled one, is there much of a premium for these cards? #2, In 3 boxes I've pulled 2 Corey Seager cards, #168. I see several (25) listed on Ebay as Action SPs. Is this really a SP?

During a hosing it is always best to be holding the spigot, and not the spout. Solid advice right there.

That sounds like throwback uniform which is better than action pose. Nice hit.

Are into heritage too.
Myself for example. I've collected heritage for over
8 years now. I try to make two sets.
1 set is to keep, and set number
2 is to sell.
Why the heck did that come out all choppy?
