Long Beach Report

I still do not know how to separate paragraphs on the new software, so my apologies if this doesn't read for you as it does for me as I write this.
Saw more material which interested me today than at the last three Long Beach Shows.
Not as many tables set up coins as in the past, and couldn't find where they sell the grey sheet and the like.
Lots of type available. Braided Hair Large Cents in all grades. Saw a nice run of MS 65 and MS 66 2 Cent Pieces. Ditto re 3 cent nickel, MS and PF. One dealer had a complete registry set of Buffalo Nickels. Hannigan's had high grade old copper. Lots of Capped Bust Halves in AU, and a handful in Unc. Trade and Seated $s were available in AU through MS 63.
Katy Duncan had the nicest MS 65 CBH I've ever seen; a 1812, which was sold before I left the show. Saw a really nice MS 64 1808 Classic Large Cent. I actually held a 1797 Small Eagle $ in MS 63 which had full cartwheel luster (thank you, Kagin's). Have never seen anything like it before.
Walter Husak (he sold his amazing Large Cents at auction 10 years ago) was at the show. I spent some time visiting with Todd's (the coin image guy) father; we were discussing his vacation to Croatia (I was there in 2011) and he showed me some pics.
I saw a nice run of Small and Large Eagle Bust $s in AU to Unc. Some of the AUs had original skin, and see my comment above re the MS 63.
Found a few Liberty Nickels in PC 6 holders, bought one of them, and replaced another I sold in November. They cost about 1/2 of what they ran 2-3 years ago, or less.
Market pricing on everything seems to have dropped in the last year (even AU Bust $s are down). I would not want to sell into this market (the coin I sold was an exception), but if you are looking for a coin, you'll get reasonable pricing on it. If you don't get it from one dealer, you'll get it from another. I got the impression you can do better at the bourse than at an auction, today.
Personally, unless a coin is one that you will not find another like it in the next five years, I wouldn't stretch for it now.
I used Coinfacts for the first time today (thank you PCGS). For those of you that haven't used it, it's like the Heritage Archives, but more complete, and easier to find coins by grade and date. And it's user friendly.
The floor was busy, and even though the market is down, I did see a lot of people selling coins to dealers at their tables. Heritage, as usual, was mobbed.

Separation achieved. FWIW, I can't quote a paragraph that has those separation marks in it.
Glad you enjoyed the show.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

" Personally, unless a coin is one that you will not find another like it in the next five years, I wouldn't stretch for it now."
I suspect that there are going to be very few US coins that you will not find "like it" offered in the next five years.

Also dumping of coins was not found much either which is a very good thing as well
Wish I could be there. I love coin shows.
