FUN is only days away!

YorkshiremanYorkshireman Posts: 4,616 ✭✭✭✭✭
I can't stand the wait.
Last night I starting thinking about what I really wanted to accomplish.
From Early Bird on Wednesday to my cab ride back the the airport on Friday afternoon will be filled with...well...fun.
I need to bring home a new piece to put in my slab box. After all, as my signature line states, "There has to be one of those at this show."

By the way, this post puts me half way to 2500 and an upgrade in designation.

For a nice Civil War date that you probably don't have, you should maybe

    consider picking this one up?

I will be there on Wednesday afternoon through Saturday! image

That's a nice original Lovett strike: "1891 Sale" specimen, PCGS 06666061. Great write up by HA as well!

It's interesting HA doesn't list the specimens in order of descending grade. Anyone know why this is the case?

Sadly, I have decided to not attend the FUN show for the first time in over a dozen years. I have always enjoyed the familiarity of Orlando and I am just not that excited about Tampa. I have decided to go to my first Baltimore show this spring instead. Enjoy the show for all those attending.

I'll be there Friday and Saturday. Buying, selling, trading and whatever else comes my way. Send a PM if you're around one of those days and would like to meet up!

Already have one that looks just like that. It was $234,000 cheaper!

I had not thought of that.
I noticed his 1859-O eagle was for sale.

When the "horrible FUN show" thread ran it's course the other day, I noted there were some great coins coming up from the Simpson and Fore collections.

I'm especially excited about the Fore coins - he was a good friend and I'm sorry to see that he and his wife have passed on.
Gone but not forgotten: IGWT, Speedy, Bear, BigE, HokieFore, John Burns, Russ, TahoeDale, Dahlonega, Astrorat, Stewart Blay, Oldhoopster, Ricko, Big Moose, Cardinal, CoinsAreFun.

It's good to allow others to enjoy the pieces. There was a nice quote from Brent Pogue about selling his collection to let others have a chance to enjoy them.

And like Liberacre, who also enjoyed what he did, he "gets to laugh all the way to the bank" with more money than I could ever imagine in my dreams.

But, yes, selling your collection is far better than willing it to some stupid museum that will never show the coins to anyone other than "the worthy," and then sell it at a public sale as soon as the bequest will allow it.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

I fly in on Wednesday and back out on Sunday. Not really looking for anything. It's more about seeing old friends.

I'm taking a box of really ugly IHC proofs for Todd to image. He may hate me.

Looking forward to some warm weather and Fun times.

As a follow up, the Ford-Simpson CSA cent didn't sell. Still a great coin.

I agree! I forgot to mention that coin in my short show report. I did view it in hand. A wonderful coin!
