I know this is a repeat topic but it is sad. I guess I will only check it once every 2 or 3 days, nothing ever new anymore.
Sad, Sad, Sad.
if the forum stopped today but the archives were still accessible, i'm not sure i could plow through them entirely before i pass beyond this life and would be more than pleased with them.
people that cant find something useful/entertaining within this forum on a daily basis make me....
With the average age of the members here just shy of 100, they can't figure out the new software. For those that could, they chose not to.
In my small town, the popular bar decided to do a complete remodel. It is now a ghost town in there. Just lost the old feel it had with the modern look.
The young ones, with their fancy smartphone friendly software, are now in charge. They will post the threads about finding the silver dime in the coinstar.
It strikes me as passingly odd that a member who has been here somewhat less than 18 months is essentially complaining that the good old days are gone...

Agree, far too many whiney posts saying how bad the forum is, and folks tellin' us they're all done buyin' coins anymore, right Winky?
I may be done buying coins for now but I'm not through with the forum yet.
I would post some lovely coins but this mac book pro just won't let me so there you are.
Thanks for all the post and information. Believe it or not I did appreciate it.

I posted the thread about finding the silver dime in the coinstar. I am hardly young being an AARP member. Don't have a smartphone now and never will. Disparaging remarks don't make a person feel welcome. I've collected coins since 1965 when I was a paperboy and used to search rolls.
Saw a little boy picking his diaper out of his butt crack, yesterday. One of the adults (a parent) in the room asked " What do you have there ? ", as if the year old boy could answer . I couldn't resist speaking up for the kid, when I blurted out : "An itch"
Yes Lance, I think what you say is probably true for most forum members. Sometimes I post really needless lame stuff like..."nice"...."beautiful coin", etc. It's not much, but I do mean it and mostly I just want to join in and be part of the scene. But I mostly just read what other members write and I enjoy that the most. There is so much information here it is incredible! Good, informative stuff. So yes, I think you are right.

sure, a lot of people do, including myself, although i keep it to a minimum as my ppd count is
still above 6 last i checked. 6 per day average for 5 years straight. oof
nice for people to see activity as it can be indicative but not inclusive.
the forum goes thru ups and downs. I have been here almost as long as RickO, but have no where the post count. You never know when some REALLY interesting threads will appear. And some serious heavy weights in the collecting world have posted here in the past and stop by at times still. For those who were here for it, the posts regarding Cardinals sale of various world class coins as well as SaintGuru and his journey with high grade Saints, not to mention TDN and ALL of his adventures. All those bring a smile to my face and I know there will be more in the future, just not sure who or when or what. Patience, there is not guarantee of daily coin magnificence.. but it DOES occur.
And thanks to all those who have provided coins for us to view and discuss who would never be able to swim in the deep waters of the serious monied collectors!

Just giving the forum a little of the old juice. I do stand by my change just for the sake of change though. I hate the new format, and apparently, so do most.
And now hobby grade 4wd dune buggies. Got one for my 8 year old son for xmas and I drove it and instantly bought another for me ....... sheeeeeeez ........ over 20 mph ..!!!! .....

This is still the best coin site on the net even if we have lost much of our lead and some of our edginess.
I was just wondering if there was another forum with the some of the past members and edginess. Things were a riot in the past, but they did get out of hand more.

Of course many of the old members are at NGC now. They've always had a really good forum but it's slower and quieter. Some would say the signal to noise ratio is higher but coin noise doesn't bother me so I hardly notice. If you count all of CoinTalk's forums they've already passed us in activity.
There are some up and coming forums as well as the four biggies.
posted very few times , and have had periods of inattentiveness.
but have yet to be disappointed when returning for amusement or information. I can only hope that as the years roll on I can contribute more , until then I am thankful for those who do.

WOW - Why don't you post a topic that is new and interesting to you and see what happens. I don't read these threads everyday as work and family consumes much of my time but I find alot of very interesting point of views here. I do post on some topics that are interesting to me and I get alot of useful information as well as developed some great relationships.

Many members here lurk for a year or two before they sign up so there's a very good chance he's been here longer than you are giving him credit for.

i think it is important to note that w/o seeing click/view counts of threads throughout the
topics, one cannot even begin to assess the success of the forum as a whole nor the
topics/threads.
i dont reply to most i read but enjoy the many i do and i click on a lot.

I did not search rolls in '65.
'65 was good, no seat belts, no enforcement. '67 Cougar, two door was the bomb. Girl getter. ISYN.

As the world economy crashed a few times over the past 15 or 20 years , the easy money and lots of jobs have
disappeared from the US Economy. Lots of people are too busy putting food on the table and finding a roof than
putting shiney jingle into a Safe.
Of course the rich are all getting richer but they are buying things other than Coins. The ones that might be buying
Coins might not frequent these boards.

Where have all the good collectors gone.
If you mention the collectors you are interested in, we could help more. A few post regularly ATS. A few are on other forums.
