How far is too far?

How far will you drive to a coin show? The 20-40 dealer club promoted ones. If you have thoughts on the larger shows ie. ANA, FUN or LongBeach lets hear them. For the small club shows an hour to hour and half is my limit.

I don't go to small shows any more.
Large shows I don't drive to. id fly and take taxis
or shuttle busses.
Since the same dealers are taking their same inventory on the major coin circuit, I prefer to let the coins travel to me instead of me traveling to the coins.

Dalton 2 times a year 4 hours each way.

It's hard to drive anywhere when the keyboard is so close ......
this.
It would be different if I had any friends who collect coins

Normal local shows are 5 miles away.
I fly to anything beyond that . .

I am lucky to have multiple large shows within driving distance of me during each year.
Winter FUN, Summer FUN and about 5 other 100+ table shows.
I am looking forward to Winter FUN in Tampa this year! Wooooohoooooooooo!
Just a short drive away and I plan to drive over there on Thursday and Friday.

On the return trip I drove the Pacific Coast Highway north to Monterey. Now that was fun!

366 miles to Long Beach. Too far for me but I justified it by transporting 65 coins for grading.

Nice! (The coins as rationale and the PCH drive to Monterey)
And 5 to 6 for a major one.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

If Spokane ever hosted a major show (probably not likely) I'd go 5 hours.

Now, as a largely dormant collector, a thirty minute drive seems too far to go.
A small show? Maybe 20-30 miles
Depends on the dealers, if I know anyone else going, etc.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
There will be an Early American Copper show in Charlotte this year,,, about four hours.
A few smaller ones that are about 2 hours.
Plan flying to three majors and using up some air miles
In my youth, I recall hitting 4-5 different local coin shows in Long Island/NY/NJ on one Sunday, covering about 400 miles. That was nuts. I recall finding a G-VG 1851-0 quarter for $20. That still barely covered the gas for the trip.
So far as too far to fly, I passed on an Early American Coppers convention a couple of years ago that was in Seatle. The diagonal flight from Florida to Washington State was just long.
show (there are none in this state) I would fly.... Cheers, RickO
