Common coins with uncommon qualities

Some coins transcend their rarity or place within their series. Eye appeal is like a fourth dimension which puts common coins to the top of high pedestals.
I'm heading home in a few weeks for my bi-annual trip to the U.S. and I see my collection then and re-remember some of my coins. This 1853-D $5 is common within the Dahlonega half Eagles series but is decidedly uncommon in its coloration and eye appeal and I am looking forward to seeing it. Graded a lowly EF40, I would not part with it for AU money.
Post your uncommon common coins.

"Luck is what happens when Preparation meets Opportunity"
An 06-o quarter that has The Look. Common date- not in the top group of a dozen after the Big Three, but really sweet and a little unusual to find looking like this.
It's in my current submission to The House for grading.
It will be nice to visit this thread later tonight.

If we were all the same, the world would be an incredibly boring place.

From my experience that is not a common coin,it is for sure an uncommon coin in that condition.
What a beautiful coin,I would safely guess AU 58 possibly 63-64
Congrats on acquiring it.

I have to believe this is one of the nicer (if not the nicest) MS66RD I've seen of this rather common coin. Had to add it to my collection
That's a great looking 09VDB. Nice color and luster.

"Common coins?" I don't get it. What's the punchline?
Take the Mercury Dime I posted for instance: 1942 proof dimes are fairly common, but the pieces are very uncommon (in fact rare) with heavy cameo contrasts. Other examples would be common business strike coins that are seldom seen with prooflike tendencies, and common date coins that have very uncommon (and eye appealing) toning.
I'd buy that one from you any time.
Thanks, cameonut2011. I'm always ready to learn something new.
