I do not know Lee, but he appears to be well liked by many board members. A lot of members, myself included, come here to try to gain as much knowledge of the hobby as possible from senior members like Lee, Tim, Mike etc. I admit my actions/decisions in the hobby are influenced by these people. Long time members like Lee should know what is appropriate and what is not on these boards. They set an example for everyone. I believe this is why we have seen the mod recently give some long timers a time out. It's the long time members like the people mentioned above that make this the premier hobby forum. We can't afford to lose them.
Lee has been one of my favorite posters here. I've had nothing but positive dealings with him. Having said that I had a feeling he had allowed himself to get baited into making some comments in the Junk Wax thread that the mods would not approve of. I wish him the best and hope he is back soon. As for the rest of us the moderator has been clear as to what behavior he/she expects on these boards.

I read these forums regularly but don't post a lot because I believe I can learn more by listening than by talking. I have noticed that there seems to be less valuable knowledge being shared now compared to just a few years ago, partly because some of the people are no longer here. That's unfortunate, for all of us.
"You know we just don't recognize the most significant moments of our lives while they're happening. Back then I thought, well, there'll be other days. I didn't realize that that was the only day."
kar·ma ˈkärmə/Submit noun (in Hinduism and Buddhism) the sum of a person's actions in this and previous states of existence, viewed as deciding their fate in future existences. informal destiny or fate, following as effect from cause.
See Dennis....what you say is ironic, I say is Karma working. I feel like a broken record here sometimes. Treat others as you yourself would like to be treated. You can debate people, sure, but leave the personal attacks out of it! This isn't 5th grade anymore people.
I'm a long time member. I read the boards frequently but, as reflected by my post count, post rather infrequently. I recognize CDs by the screen name only as I have never interacted with him personally or privately as I can recall. I do however recall him making a number of interresting and/or thoughtful comments over the years.
Apparently he was banned for alleging unethical behavior by the original poster in an open thread in relation to a deal the two of them did at some point. The original poster's thread posted a question about junk wax; it had nothing to do with the transaction.
Against the above backdrop, CDs made his allegations. Setting aside the issue as to "who was right," it was out of context in the topic of the thread. The pair in turn made heated exchanges.
From PSA's perspective, I understand their reasoning. The private dispute was discussed out of context and was not civil. PSA has made the decision on its boards that such conduct will not be tolerated. Moreover, PSA is not in the business of being sued so I see the logic of wanting to preclude any comments that can be perceived as defamatory (and to be crystal clear once again, I make no judgment on the underlying dispute as I was not involved nor do I know all the facts).
It does possibly present a slippery slope if some members are given a pass on their comments while others are not. Such would lead to selective and arbitrary banning. "Hey I personally feel this member should not be banned because I believe he has made great comments in the past." "Ban this member because he has only been here one month. He must be a troll." I therefore would personally prefer a code of conduct applied equally and fairly to all members. From my reading, PSA has made it clear that such application will occur.
With all the above said, I have no axe to grind against CDs. Again I do not personally know the gentleman and have found many of his comments insightful and interesting. Carry on.
<< <i>I agree with you wholeheartedly but look at it from PSA's point of view: they're making no money off the board and it's provided as a courtesy. >>
I don't think this is necessarily true. They don't directly make any money off of the boards (fees), but having these boards has to be generating business. There are all sorts of "poppage" threads in which people show their grades. I'm sure they know this generates more orders. I doubt PSA isn't doing this out of the goodness of their heart. They understand that people taking about sportscards and how they got a "10" on this card generates additonal business.
By arbitrarily banning members because they are calling out the BS in manner that might not be the most pleasant, they hurt this board and hurt the hobby because BS needs to be called in some of these situations. The warnings about bruingirl and jose are some of the most obvious examples of it being good to have BS called out here. Isn't having these type of peolple called out good for PSA too?
Banning Lee is a mistake because the communnity not only loses his knowledge in the short term (assuming this is not permanent), but when he does come back will he be more hesitant to call out BS in the future. If so, the only thing that can happen is the honest collecting community loses and the fraudsters win.
Lee has a very highly calibrated BS meter and feels he is doing a service to those who might otherwise be duped. I tend to agree. There will be more undetected fraud without people like CPAMike, Grote, Summerof69 and Lee (I apologize in advance for all the other not immediately coming to mind). This is bad for the hobby and ultimately could be (will be?) bad for PSA.
I believe it would be in their best interest to use a little more discretion when pulling out the ban hammer. At what point do they ban too many people that these boards just become a haven for spamming and fraud. Again, that would be bad for the collecting community. And whats bad for the collecting community = bad for PSA. Hopefully they have the wisdom to realize this.

It works the other way also. When I recently called out a fake Mickey Mantle card scam going on, I was called out by a well known "hater" of me. "This card is obviously real - You have no idea what you are talking about". He wasn't as ugly about it as some members, but the card was an obvious fake. You had to have blinders on to not realize it was one of the many reprints that are on Etsy. I also believe Mullins called out a Gretzky that appeared to be fake and the case had frosting on the side as though it has been compromised. He was belittled as well. When these "experts" and "valued members" constantly belittle other members for pointing out scams and frauds, that makes us not want to waste our time bringing things to people's attention. One of the previous posters said it best.....something to the effect of, "I want EVERYONE's input". When we are made to feel stupid for pointing out anything....well.....that isn't right.
From my dealings with him I know him to be very fair and also very open and straightforward about his expectations and what you are getting in any deal. Definitely someone you can count on.
He also has the highest percentage of hilarious posts by anyone in this forum.

This rally call to get him reinstated is funny seeing how nobody obviously knows the reason why he was booted. I was reading the debate on the bad deal with the sets and it was extremely tame compared to many other debate/argument threads. Then out of left field for no apparent reason a small but quite significant four letter "n" word was used in a way that most people here would consider bizarre, inappropriate, and indefensible in the way it was used. If you read the comment at the time you knew immediately without question what would happen when seen by the moderator. It remained up and unedited for another page of comments. If everybody posting their support here had actually read the comment then it's highly unlikely that a thread like this would have been started and the response would have been quite different.

unfortunately, the context in which his response was used could be perceived in such a way as to create discomfort for others. considering our past history as a society in general, perhaps a term with a bit less bite would have sufficed.
in hindsight, it seems Lee would have been better off substituting "Keith Olbermann" for the word he mistakenly chose. it would have fit perfectly, too.
I knowed he was a troublemaker. Right on day 1 I knowed it.

I do not know Lee personally, but from reading the boards over the years, his knowledge about the hobby/ebay/grading would be surely missed if he were permanently banned. That being said, the comments he posted about RookieWax were not all that nice. Was that what got him banned? I'm curious because in another thread Lee was referred to as STD Nuts and called a "richard" by that member. Not cool either.
Lee has an incredible BS meter, and many times his posts were what caused me to see the BS in spite of my rose colored glasses. But he always did it with humor. I can't think of anyone whose posts I look forward to more.
4 letter "n" word - I have no idea what that is, but I think NOOO to banning Lee!
The ban hammer is being used way too often in the online world. That being said...as long as it is done equally and without regards to the person doing it, there is nothing that can be done
I'm all for democracy, but this forum is not. If it was, I'm sure I know of one poster that would be promptly shown the door for his constant poking of the bears.
I don't know what one of our funniest posters did to be nuked, but I hope he returns.

I believe the word in question is "nazi"...which leaves me perplexed, as I read the thread, and in that reference (which I admit I did not understand), Lee didn't call anyone that name.
I've already lost my 2nd most entertaining poster (whatever happened to Neil thedutymon, anyway?), please don't take away my 1st most entertaining poster.
I hope he comes back soon and his first post back is bumping that thread that he loved so much where the guy added the Jordan into the '88 pack for some drama.
Well at least the people being banned may realize there is a real world out there after jonezing for a month on not being able to focus their brainz on how to be cool on a message board.
Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
