New sticker company ideas

Dealers and collectors could send their TPG for a new FPG (Fourth Party Grading) company, which would review the coin and the assigned grade and apply one of the following stickers on the slab:

To indicate their opinion was less than the TPG:

To indicate their opinion was same as the TPG:

To indicate their opinion was graded higher than the TPG:

Or if they just don't know you'd get a image sticker

Most people would remove the downgrade stickers, so they would be rare and bring more than upgrade stickers.

I have a better idea...Why don't people just buy the coin and not the slab. And, learn how to grade and judge quality on a coin's own merits. All you need is a slab and a grade. You do not need 5 stickers to go along with it.

I dunno - I think Baley's on to something with the Star Wars series stickers.

They could go on different denominations, forcing collectors to expand in order to collect them all

Tell the dealers were educated collectors and don't need stupid stickers !!!

How about a company that burns their opinion into the plastic holder itself... no sticker to remove/tamper with. It would be risky to send them coins, as you could end up with a negative opinion burned into the holder, but that may make the positive opinions a little more valuable. Of course, it would all depend on who was doing the reviewing of the coins and whether you think they are better than the several PCGS/NGC graders who have already given you their opinion. And I guess you could always get rid of that negative opinion by just getting your coin reholdered... so maybe that still wouldn't work.

Can't critique it much better than this. I love the Star Wars stickers, too.

I still like this idea. Can't believe CAC hasn't taken up the suggestion yet. Must be the billion dollar licensing fee I wanted for the sticker rights.

Still think a brown POS sticker from CAC is in order.

For collectible holders, the next step for the Visionary Dude is to grade the preservation of the plastic.

Each owner of the coin should have there own sticker, kinda like the chop marks, when or if a coin is traded you add your sticker.image

Especially when one has no clue about the experience the person has concerning a series that led them to believe a coin deserved a sticker.

A well known New England dealer, Babe Benet, and couple of his dealer friends came up with spoof on CAC. They have a new fourth party grading service, "ABB," "Approved By Babe." They even had some t-shirts printed up with a "ABB" logo on it.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
