I have a thing for 1857 large cents, so whenever I spot an attractive one at a reasonable price, I snag it. This one showed up on The Bay for a BIN price that puts it considerably below all recent Heritage/Stacks/GreatCollections auction results, so I decided to pounce.
Decent strike, nice clean face and neck. These frequently come with hits on the cheek, neck, or across the nose.
Still inbound; sellers pics.

<< <i>That is a nice looking example, but I hope that you don't hoard too many of these coins. I'd hate to see other collectors in the position where the coin was generally unavailable, which has happened with the 1909-VDB cent in Matte Proof. >>
I use the term "hoard" in jest, simply meaning that I have more than just one or two to "fill the spot". I'm not trying to corner the market (nor could I, even if I wanted to).
If I were going to try and corner the market in something, I would shoot for a coin that is a bit more scarce and more under the radar, say the 1850 half cent. Tiny mintage and actually tougher than the price guides imply.
<< <i>Nice cent...why are you hoarding them? Seem to be plentiful at shows, auctions etc.... Cheers, RickO >>
Last of series, low mintage (comparatively speaking), stupidly underpriced in Grey Sheet, and really I just like 'em.
<< <i>Looks nice... Just call it a "Grading Set" which trust me gets you off the hook hoarding! >>
Yeah, but I've got more than one MS64BN... guess I need to trade up.
