    I see nothing that keeps it from MS 65.

    Nice looking coin!

    I'll say AU58 and MS62, meaning it could be in either grade holder, but is worth the same either way.

    I know the grade because I was watching this coin from the start. I, too, think it is very choice for the assigned grade.

    63 Maybe some light wiping visible? Anything from 62 to 64 seems possible.

    Just the slightest softness on the motto. Super mark free fields.

    Not my series but let me guess that it is a MS66 (perhaps a 65+).

    Thanks for the guesses.

    I think it has excellent eye appeal and is strong for the grade.

    Two images one via Heritage and one via David Lawrence, where it had sold previously.

    When you are reduced to actually counting the marks on the coin, you know you've got something special. Assuming it's not AU58 or questionable color (a couple spots on the reverse concern me) I have it at 65 factoring the previous "choice at the grade" comment. I chose to slide the expected strike weakness at PLURIBUS but the grader might have been less kind.

    Do you believe it to be an 58 market graded into an MS holder? I can't see how else it could have graded 62 (and CAC'd Green at 62).

    Beautiful coin! I also find it amazing that in this day and age that the major auction houses still can not produce good images of coins for sale.

    CAC is very tough on Bust coins, as PCGS is too! If you tried 6 times at the two services you would probably get a point or so more, but would it be worth the expense, time and anxiety? As it is you have an excellent and highly marketable coin.

    Thanks for your excellent incisive analysis as usual! I probably should have checked out the definitions on MS62-64 grading criteria, pictures don't clarify the issue for me much since every coin is different.

    This seems to be forgotten when all we have is a photo to go on. It's easy to hide hairlines and fluff up the luster in a photo.

    Otherwise, this one needs to be re-graded and re-cacced.

    This is probably one of those coins that cant be graded so easily via computer screen but may be different in hand. No matter the grade, its a great looking coin!

    I have seen some really nice looking Bust half dollars in MS-62 holders that people had found at the FUN show. It seems like the grading has tightened up on these coins.
    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    In the first photo the coin looks 62, due to a lack of luster dead look with a pin scratch from the first star to the bust.
    In the second photo, the coin appears to have more luster but still with the scratch
    The DL photo makes the coin look like it has gem luster with the scratch.

    Which photo is most representative of the coin in hand?

    There are numerous ways a coin like this can net to a grade like 62, and look like a 64 to some people and a 58 to others, depending on which attributes they prefer to emphasize.

    PCGS and CAC both like it at 62, and, well, it's too late for you to believe me because the grade is already revealed, but that was my guess before scrolling down.

    Oh, and great looking coin for the grade, could also see it as 63 but way too nice overall for anything lower than 62 imo.

    It looks a bit nicer than the grade assigned. I find it quite attractive too.
    The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

    I would crack it let it do it thing and resubmit them at a leter time they are some very nice halfs and some older holders as well, But that is just me Dumb Type2.
