The US Mint has 129 products scheduled for 2015. How many will you buy?

I get both the regular and silver proof sets and a proof SAE. I was subscribing to the 5 oz. ATB's but canceled it since there is no more discount.
But looking at their product schedule there is just a bunch of "stuff". You can get bags, rolls, and coins packaged in sets.

I only see two I'd be interested in:

The length of that list gives me a headache. image I don't think that any collector should feel obligated to keep up with the all stuff that is on that list. Like the post office, the mint is now issuing too much stuff because most collectors are just going to throw up their hands, say "Enough!!" and buy none of it.

It's interesting that this is the year of Lyndon Johnson who is one of my least favorite presidents. That old fool got us up to our eyeballs in the dreadful Vietnam War where thousands of young men were killed or maimed for no good end. He also started the push to put the welfare state into overdrive more to garner more votes for himself than anything else. He was a gross, no class individual who thought was cool to go potty while he was talking to people in the bathroom. The Kennedy people offered the vice presidency to him thinking that he wouldn't take it. He did and events sadly lead to him into the White House. Jackie Kennedy called him "Colonel Corn Pone," and that was a polite name for him. Lyndon Johnson should only be remembered as a lesson about the kind of man who should never have become president.

And yes, I will not be buying one of the Johnson Chronicles sets. I'll hold my nose and buy a silver Proof set with the LBJ dollar in it.

<< <i>I can't afford brand new coins, so I collect old ones. >>

    Well stated.

The vast majority of the items on this list are like driving out the showroom in a new car. As soon as the wheels have turned over once, it is worth less than you paid for it. Some items, like the $5 gold baseball commemorative, were money makers when the first ones were issued, but after the flippers had made the money, the game was over. New coins are more of a luxury than old ones. If you are patient enough to buy them in the secondary market, you often better off financially.

    Got a link?

Since the FDR coin looked nothing like FDR, why should the later ones look like the Presidents they represent?

Finish up my collection of the spouse medal sets,

probably just the high relief silver(may just buy an ngc 70 one).

If I have the money maybe a Jackie Gold Spouse (buy a PCGS First Strike Flag 70 version) and only if the rendition if a good one of her. The various versions were very ugly except one that I liked. They probably won't do that one.

Interesting to get another view of him besides from watching Forest Gump.(kidding) I don't think Nixon was much better but as a nine-year old I did send him a letter thanking him for ending America's involvement/cease fire as I feared in another 9 short years I would have been drafted for somthing I didn't understand as a child.

Probably just the UHR gold, since my 2009 Saint is lonely. If the flipping climate dictate that I participate in something else, I probably will, but these won't be things that are added to my collection.

We will do all the usual things for the store (PSE, PS, silver PS, MS, some singles coins [Sac, JFK, etc.] for album builders and some of the commems) but I think this year's "stupidity" coins will be the high relief pieces. Everyone will have visions of the 2009 pieces dancing in their heads and the predictable madness will ensue. TPGs and flippers will be the only winners unless mintages are very tiny and I just don't see that happening.

I'll be buying in pursuit of the newest Modern Rarity. I've been doing that since the 1960 Small Date Lincolns. Why would I stop now?

Someday I'll score a roll of Spouse/Presidential Dollar Mule coins that will have people wondering why Jackie O is paired with Gerald Ford, which might spike rumors of a Warren Commission conspiracy. That might be worth something!image

Zero - they lost me as a customer after a few of their web debacles

In the unlikely chance that they actually do have something of interest to me, I'll simply buy it from a dealer and avoid the drama.
