Did some ripping last night. The first two packs I opened gave me the most excitement. They were both 93' SP, and they both produced a sharp, high-grade foil card. Unfortunately it wasn't THE foil card. Cliff Floyd and Alex Gonzales look great, but they'd look better if they had been wearing a Yanks uniform. Interestingly enough those were the ONLY two gradeable cards in either pack. I'm curious as to whether or not the other foils being pulled from this box look as good.....??? I'm already tempted in buying one of these boxes from Steve now.
I opened the following: 4 1980 wax, 4 1983 Wax FB, 2 1984 Wax, 4 1982 Wax BB, 2 1981 Topps FB, and 2 1983 Topps BB. Pretty much zero star power in all with best quality cards coming from 1980 and 1981 packs. I got a couple of commons from each that are worth a sub, but that was pretty much it. Had a blast once again though.
I received mine yesterday here in Canada, but they will remain sealed for now. No stars on the fronts of any cellos I picked up, but did get a George Brett on the back of one '82 Cello.
For those still waiting for packs in CA, mine arrived Saturday, though I had to wait until Monday to pick them up because I wasn't home when they were delivered. I only opened one of the '89 UD packs and got nothing. The '74 football wax is a beautiful mint pack. My '78 cello has a Clint Hurdle RC showing on top!!!! Oh if he had only panned out. Maybe he'll get into the HOF as a manager? The two '81 FB cellos, the '78 BB cello, the '74 football wax pack and the remaining '89 UD pack will stay sealed.
Nice cards, but I dont think any are worth submitting. The only that might have a chance is the montana, but I think the fisheye and possibly the centering keep it out of a 10 holder.....

Thanks, Jeremy. Unfortunately I agree with you. Anyone else think differently?

I'm not sure what an 84T Henderson goes for, but I think it's a 9 with upside possibilities.
<< <i>I'd take a shot on the montana and fridge. Both def pay in 9s. Also that 79 common is sharp.
The 86 football cello box was ugly! Mine were all oc pretty similar to your boomers. I think I'm keeping my other pack closed. >>
Agreed, my '86 cellos weren't centered well.
Also, the most expensive pack I purchased, the 1979 Baseball Cello, had corner dings on every card. Disappointing on that one.
The 79 football common was the nicest of the bunch. Figured I might try it. Leaning towards trying the Fridge...an 8 will get my money back. Montana would need to be a 9 or higher to not lose money on grading. Can it get a 9 with the fish-eye? Do you guys think the Ray Guy's have a shot at 10? The 86 is pop 1, the 84 is pop 7. His recent HOF induction could help.
So right now I'm leaning towards trying: 79 Charlie Waters, 86 Perry, 86 Montana, 86 Guy, 84 Guy. Everything else is too OC, I think.
I'd take a shot on the montana and fridge. Both def pay in 9s. Also that 79 common is sharp.
Exactly. Can't really tell about the upper left on Fridge, but thats a $90 card as a 9. The !979 Waters looks perfect. $200 PSA 10. If you have an order to send I would think about adding those 3
I opened my 79 fb packs. pretty clean cards. pulled this very nice Staubach, likely a 9, although L/R centering could be tight. But the back top has this weird print spot, will this get me a PD?

I wonder why 86 football doesn't get more respect? Condition sensitive and loaded with great rookie cards, including some of the games greats. I used to rip rack after rack when they were selling for $25.
Wow! '74 Football in the house. '78 Baseball and '79 Football cellos look pretty awesome. Not a lot of star power showing, Fingers,Dawson, on reverse 80s cellos.
After staring at the packs all lined up I decided to start with a pack of 84Donruss...not really sure where it goes from here!

Thought the Montana is off t/b, maybe the Waters card??
Just recently was able to inspect my packs and noticed on the '80 Topps BB that the pack wasn't sealed. Has anyone else experienced this? This could be telling me to rip it, instead of storing it and keeping it unopened.

I participated in a group rip years ago and one of my '84 OPC Hockey packs had a tear (I was thinking about keeping it sealed, but knowing me I'd had eventually ripped it). Anyways, it had the Yzerman RC! If the pack comes RIP then you must RIP!
I sent off a few cards from my rip to PSA under the 30 day review. Exepcting the worse...hoping to hit on 1 or 2 of them. I'll post when they're graded.

Unfortunately, that is common with vintage wax if the box was stored in a very dry environment. Doesn't mean the pack isn't authentic, but it obviously limits its value, too. I would open it and who knows, you may pull a Henderson RC that will pay for the pack and then some.

Received my package from BBCE today. Very happy with my cellos.
My 78 cello has Dave Rader on top and.........drum roll......
Eddie Murray RC on the back!!!
Also received an 80 cello with McCovey on top.
I also got a 1979 wax tray - still has the 49 cent sticker on it.
nice!!
just curious--does your '79 tray say "FASC"??
But the Murray cello took the sadness away real fast !!!
They call me "Pack the Ripper"
89 UD - Nothing
84 & FB will wait
They are very clean looking packs.
Thanks

All boxes were nice and FASC.
Clean Packs:
Eh on the racks.
But the cellos were the highlight!
Sweet Reggie Top...and the Falcone has a Lynn Back.
The Bird on Top was tops for the 79s but coulda been a nobody so I'll take that as a minor win, especially with the centering.
But the real home run for me was the 2 80 cellos. Two of my favorite non-Dodgers showing on top. (Paging DanBessette)
And finally...my lone add on for this order.

As for individual star packs I got a few interesting ones.
1978 Jim Rice on back:
1978 Andre Dawson on back:
and 1978 Willie Stargel on front:
1979 Munson on back (even though you cannot see the name):
1980 Rose on back:
1979 FB Tom Jackson on front and to tall Jones on back:
1986 FB with Payton 1000 yard club on front and Steve Young on back:
So an enjoyable package to open. Thanks again for putting this on. And as usual, nothing gets ripped.
