Poll...Do the members here want to see my progress on my Canadian Dimes..YES or NO?

DIMEMANDIMEMAN Posts: 22,403 ✭✭✭✭✭
One person keeps replying to my threads on new additions to my Canadian Dimes. I like many collectors don't really consider Canadian coins to be foreign like the other world coins.

Every time I post a thread on this I get lots of people looking at my set, so I figure there is interest here.

Vote and let me know. Thanks. image

I voted yes, but could hardly care less about Canadian dimes. If it is your thing, post it. Close enough to on topic and someone will enjoy it.

    I didn't vote....

But I had to chuckle at the concept of Canadian coins not REALLY being foreign. I'm not sure most Canadians adhere to the theory that they're just really cold, northerly, members of the US. image

Because many Americans are too ignorant of the fact that Canada is in reality a foreign country and not the 51st American state. For those who believe Canada is the 51st state I dare them to drive up to a CSBA border checkpoint with that mentality. Sit back and enjoy the show.

Nay. There is a world coin forum, where the thread would be on topic. If all the Canadian coin posts on the world coin forum migrated to the U.S. coin forum, that would be another 20% drop in posting volume. Stay in your lane.

There may be "yes" on their lips, but it's "no" in their hearts.

...I voted yes a while back when a yes vote was winning. It seems that the haters have voted no since then. I mean although Canada is a territory in which was not worth fighting for to add on the US map; they still fought hard next to us in Normandy and for that, I Respect them. Screw the vote tally, just show them to us buddy image

To answer your question, this is the US Coin forum. Show them on the World Coin Forum. We already have enough off topic threads here.

How about a comparison of Canadian Dimes to American Dimes of the same year when you post the coins.

Canadian generally have lower mintage and lower price I would guess?

I'm Canadian yet I voted 'no' for two reasons mainly.

First of all, this is the US coin forum. There's a world coin forum where this issue should be raised.

Secondly and more importantly, we don't need a 'vote' post. Just list your dimes in the World forum and be done with it.

Maybe I'm in a grumpy mood today but I think the OP's post serves no purpose.

    Are they US coins?

  • I dunno about a poll about a post...but it has gotta be better than reading some bickering etc. as of late or is it just me. A comparison of the Canadian and US design changes over time etc. might be interesting. I still say I might learn something "cross-over" so what is the real harm. My 2 cents. An as they are sometimes in my pocket (and yours I must think) I kind of call "fair game" - even if on a slim technicality. They also can be spent here in my experience as they slip by, but I dont see how - many seem so very prooflike - why BTW? It's a thread about some Canadian silver dimes. I seriously doubt we will be flooded by a sudden influx of OT "Darkside"material. And reading it is not compulsory.
Maybe now that I am 45 I am an "old softie" image

    Eric

Edit: I know things in here are not the way they were say 10 years ago or whatever, but when did every rule become so strict? Are there not many precedents in here for this kind of thread? Responses lately seem to have a different priority regarding the goal of the statement than in the past. I have been thinking this for some time. Of curse, not anything all of you nor near it. And it should be noted we have what appears to me a few more new members then usual - no aspersions to those folk

You can say they are coins accepted in the US since we do use their cents, nickels, dimes, and quarters on a very regular basis.

Yes, this market needs to grow, I wish the Canadians would collect their own coins as fervently as US collects their national coinage.
  • jayPemjayPem Posts: 4,082 ✭✭✭✭✭
Not very interested in dimes or Canadian coins, so....I doubt your progress will interest me much either image
But you should post them if you feel like it ! You always seem to title your threads in a way that makes the topic clear, it's therefore very simple
to either open the thread if it is of interest, or ignore it if it is not image
  • DIMEMANDIMEMAN Posts: 22,403 ✭✭✭✭✭
Looks like there are going to be more votes than yes votes. But all the positive replies makes me think I should continue to post here. As one member mentioned......I make it clear in the title what the thread is about. So those interested can look and those who are not can pass on by.

I also posted the thread on the foreign coin forum. I actually get interest here than there.

So at the request of the many member here who are interested I will continue to post here.

Thanks to those who are interested. image

Why have a poll if you are going to ignore the results?

Also, if I recall correctly, you were one of the few members who got their knickers in a twist about 25th Anniversary American Silver Eagle collector set discussion being posted in the US Coin Forum and not the Bullion forum.

I look forward to your argument that Canadian coins belong in the US coin forum but American silver eagles minted as a collectible set (and selling for far more of a premium than "bullion") do not.
