Look what arrived in the mail today. A 1952 PR65DCAM Superbird. 1 of 16 1952 DCAM quarters graded by PCGS. PCGS has only attributed 3 Superbird DCAM proofs, so this is 1 of 3. I know the some of the other 13 DCAM's graded by PCGS are also Superbirds, but still nice to have the variety on the holder so I can add to my variety set without having to send it back to PCGS. I have to wait a few days to add to my set. It came from the Michael Fuller Collection.

Nice quarter, but do you think it would be deep cameo today? Lots of frost weakness on the feathers in some of the views.
Well looking at in hand the feathers has some frost throughout. It is not as heavy in spots, but it is still frosted throughout. I also have a 67CAM to compare it to and the CAM frost overall is weaker. So the DCAM has heavier frost on both sides. I think it would still DCAM today.
A few weeks ago while eating Pie and ice cream and waiting for a last minute bid on a 44 d ddo 101 at GC I realized I was sitting there and the bidding was over. The coin ended up in another registry set. This weekend I saw this one on ebay for cheaper than if I had bid on GC and it looks better. In hand I can't see one hit on the obverse or reverse....
@1tommy
I pulled it from a 1960 mint set raw. Then I had it graded several years ago NGC 65 - mostly white. I had cracked it out a few years ago and put it in one of the hard plastic Whitman coin snap cases. I noticed it started to get a light blue tone around the periphery and I decided to open the snap case and had left the coin lying in one half of the capsule. The toning above is the result of turning the coin periodically from side to side when I thought of it. I was really surprised at the end result and caught it before the toning got too dark. If the marks were not on the forehead, who know what grade this would be
The other MS66 '60 TY-B MS66 I have came from another '60 mint set bought at the same time. It was sent to NGC with the one above and I got a MS67. I tried a cross at PCGS a couple times with no luck and just cracked it, let it sit in a flip a while then sent it raw and was given MS66. I have tried it a couple other times with no luck, but I have time on my side

Still waiting for my last coin in my set it’s currently living in the grading room at our host, I hope I’m not being charged rent 😂
I’ve started upgrading other dates
New addition MS66+
Picked this one off Heritage awhile back and it is MS 67 with a CAC sticker and is the S/S variety and will be sent back in for variety and ties 3 other coins with only 1 better.....
I have been searching for over the past year for a 1945 D and for some reason this has been a tough coin to find in MS 67 and comes with the green sticker.
Enjoy Tom
Congrats on finally getting the 1934 and the story that goes with your patience in waiting for this coin and glad it showed up. That is a Nice Looking coin. I really enjoyed looking thru your Set. @jabba
@erwindoc Nice pickup on the 1956 Type B and I have seen the type C come up for auction a few times a year so you should not have a problem finding a example. I only have a MS 63 in my set.
Apologies in that this is not host-graded. Was the Mint careless to the point that mintmarks were always messy? I see a lot of messy mintmarks in the Washington Quarter series.

Hey Jay that is a Nice addition to your set and your right about a coin in MS would cost a lot more. I like the look of your coin and the cac sticker is a nice bonus and beats my graded example. You just have to love the Variety Sets and its always nice to see you adding to yours.
We had a bad ice storm here power has been on and off and I finally decided to spend some money. I have been looking at this coin for 3 weeks and I already have a ms 66 in my set but the colors on this just kept bringing me back so bought it today. MS 67 with a CAC Sticker and True View was a bonus and just no hits on the Obverse or reverse Eagles legs. Does anyone else look for the strong reeding in this series?
Here is another coin for my variety set. 1942-P DDO, FS-101. I have added two 1942 DDO Quarters in the last two weeks. 64 more coins to finish the set.

Hey Dave.
Thanks for the Sale and that coin upgrades the AU 50 I had in my set. As soon as I saw this coin I knew I had to buy it. Can't wait to see it in hand as it looks really nice for a MS 64 and ties 3 others with only 1 coin graded higher.
The ranking of players is not by the percentage. You can have more coins than others and still be below them in the game. I am short 5 coins total and think mines at 97.30, each coin added will increase that number BUT it IS the Set rating that determines what Place you are in. A lot of the varieties are not given the weight that they should have so it makes it harder to pass someone with all 83 regular coins in high grade.
@KaleidoscopeQuarters That is crazy to think you cracked it out and got a 67 + Nice score and of course I looked for the S/S as I am sending my 67 back in to try and get the + before I get the Variety attributed.
I have had no success with PCGS giving me an upgrade under
reconsideration. I hope you get the + you're hoping for! Here is a coin I sent in for reconsideration.

30 Years Ago and I remember when the show aired right after the Super Bowl. I got phone calls from around the country from army buddies and old friends who saw the show. I still talk to the DJ that I won the 1000 bucks from to this day and he and the wife watch the tape every year and get a good laugh. Fun Times growing up in L.A.
I really enjoy watching you upgrade your set and that's a nice looking 1970 what's the grade? My 1946 s is blast white so odds of a upgrade are slim but have to try. I sent in four coins 2 with cac for regrade and lost both stickers with only 1 upgrade on another coin without a sticker so this time will try reconsideration for 4 cac coins. Will see.....

KQ,
That is a stunner of a coin. I am not into Clad Quarters, but if they looked like that I would be all in. Not sure what the grade on that coin is, but it is worthy of a +.
Here is my last purchase. 1950 PR64DCAM. PCGS has graded 9 DCAM from 1950, so to get this coin was a thrill for me. I'm trying to get all DCAM from 1950 to 1964. So this is a major hurdle to get to that goal.
Hello all. I am new to this thread but am active on the U.S. Coins forum. My 32-64 Washington set is about 25% complete. Here is one my newer pickups. PCGS MS67 —
That's a nice 1957-D. This issue is terrific in that there are so many US Mint Set coins with nice toning for the year and this includes the dimes and half dollars, as well.
New to the Washington Qtrs. Registry and this thread. I recently had the opportunity to purchase a group of PCGS ms65 graded white Washington qtrs. Helping a friend out who was hurting financially due to Covid. Yes I slightly overpaid ( he's a friend ) So what do I do with them ? Well, now I have a Registry set. LOL. Lacking the 32 D only. 90+ % are ms65. Only the higher cost Pre 40's are less than 65's. ms62 being the lowest. Not after a top set. # 63 right now. My primary focus and Registry sets are Roosevelts and Kennedys. Just wanted to say I'm learning and enjoying this thread and y'all got some nice quarters. Still looking for the 32 D that I can fit in my budget.
Save up and get one that fits! You should be able to find a nice 62/63 coin that wont break the bank. I love the set! You are fortunate that someone got them graded for you, otherwise lots are not quite worth the submission fees!
