I agree with your previous comment on the opportunities in 66s with eye appeal.
This is my favorite series. I am working on a few raw, circulated sets, nothing high end, so I lurk more than participate here- but I enjoy and learn from the thread.
I don't get caught up in the rankings. I do what I can and enjoy it.
BUT I will admit I was getting tired of being stuck in 33rd place seemingly for ever.
This one finally bumped me up one spot, lol.
It has a light golden hue, is super clean and nice luster.

Nice 39 Quarter. I just got knocked down from 11 to 12 by some guy named D.L. Hanson! It will only take a couple to pass him up. I guess he doesn't have many of the varieties.
It's me again ...I've been trying to catch up on my Denver mint quarters.
I just received this nice MS66 that I'm happy to have.
The mm seems to be not very well centered compared to others.
I think I'll probably cool down for a little while.

I was wondering who picked up this type B reverse in 66+. Well done!

I was watching the 58 in 67, that started 4 weeks at $1000 with no bidders. Then it started at $1 and closed at $1450,I am happy for seller. I would have bid but had a nice one submitted and waiting for grade.
I think I know the answer, but is it appropriate to post general questions about the series or raw coins here even if I don't participate in the registry?

I was watching that '58 in MS67 and as you pointed out it was up for weeks at the $1000 starting price. Weather it was a good deal or not and I did not see it in hand, I just didn't care for the hits on the shoulder. I just couldn't bring myself to even bid on it. Looks like you found a nice one
A few posts above, I said I was going to cool down for a little while.
I was serious but succumbed to temptation.
I don't collect varieties but I did want one for my set.

I think I have seen some some positive experiences with Northeast Numismatics on here. I saw one or two quarters I am thinking about from them. Can any of you confirm it is a good site to buy from? Any hesitation in terms of pricing, quality, etc? I don't normally buy slabbed coins online so I am just trying to get any help possible. Thanks!
This is a really cool post. I am not a high end collector, but get a lot of pleasure from what I have been able to build. I have a complete set of Washington's, all of them circulated which has meaning for me in that many of the silver coins were inherited from my Uncle, a man loved by our whole family. Joe never finished the set, I finished it for him.
Because of my desire to do this, I connected with a local coin club, several members advised and traded with me to help me along. I attend the weekly meetings as often as I can.
Also, this is the one coin that first captured the imagination of my Grandkids, with the State Series, and now they each have developed their own interests in other sets; it is wonderful to share that with them. The W Quarters have them all in a tizzy.
I don't have any coins that compare with some of the beauties pictured; I am always amazed at what people find. But I have a set that is of true value to me personally, and I know will be by my Kids and Grandkids after me.
Thanks for starting this post, and to those who've contributed.

How much credence and importance do you give to the Coin Facts description- common in gem grades, rare in gem toners, etc?
There are some nuggets of info but overall, I find them to be brief, vague, repetitive and they just feel outdated to me.
I may be off the mark but that's how I view them.

That is the impression I get as well, I was curious about the feelings of others.
I have not seen either one in hand. I do remember #1 when it was offered on Heritage and between the PCGS TV, Heritage and the Scoggins 1964 mint set photos I like the die polish on the OBV but the Rev does nothing for me. I don't mind the heavy toning look, I just don't like the darker black color at the top reverse and imagined it as you described "dim luster" and thought others felt the same way since it was not bid up. Still a nice coin but not for me.
I am liking the 2nd coin better over all, with the strike on the devices obv and rev. The few marks in the wing on the reverse does not bother me From the TV hands down #2 strike, and how the color lays on the coin looks better to me. JMHO, when you look at the previous owners here is what comes to my mind, they looked at probably most of what was available (at the time) and they all picked this one

Edited to answer your other? Do any 1964-p quarters exist with blazing luster?
This appears to be a tougher mint to find what you're describing compared to the '64-D mint. I have a couple I made in MS66 that I like in hand, the 1st one in my mint set the 2nd one has toned a little more since the photo and I really like it. I have another that I cracked from a NGC MS66 several years ago I am letting tone a little more before I send to PCGS (I'll post when I send it in later).
Here is my 64P, currently NGC MS67+. Jaime, Im not sure it stacks up luster-wise like you are mentioning, but it looks like a luster and toning bomb to me!

Congratulations to Craig (washingtonrainbows) for blasting past Red to take over the #1 spot in the registry. I counted 8 new MS68 wash quarters added to his set with 3 of those being pop 1/0. I didn't think it would have been possible to achieve having the #1 set with out having a 1932D in MS66. But Craig has done it. Great looking set Craig, You deserve the #1 slot
Love that 64D 68.

Outstanding 62-D @washingtonrainbows .
I need one of those for my set. Not super easy to find a decent one let alone one like that.
My latest pick-up is a 48-D, MS66.
It is so ugly I won't even post a pic, lol.
If you want to see it you'll have to go look at my set.
I took a chance based on the sellers photo and i should have known better. It doesn't look good under any normal conditions.

Northeast Numismatics is the real deal. You can do business with them safely.

I have bought several coins from them. Great outfit!

Nice to see some PCGS-graded top pop C-N clad quarters bring very strong prices in the June Long Beach Signature Sale.
Appears that the market it strong for nice material!

pcgs and quarters dont mix,
Without hesitation I can say I like the second better. Especially visualizing how you say it looks in hand.
I like both of these, but prefer the first coin.
