Silver at local bank.........you won't believe it. ...... Pictures added

100 miles from home in semi rural NC
Go to PO to mail some stuff and bank is right next door.
Ask if they have any rolls of halves......They have 21 rolls......420 coins.
19 rolls are solid 40% silver...........380 coins.
All were solid 40% rolls that appear to have been set back around 1968.
Interestingly they all had big X and word 'No' written on old bank wrappers.
I'd guess it was 1969 or so and they were pulling the 90% and not bothering with the 40% stuff.

That's the sort of thing that used to happen back in the late-90s when silver was so cheap that 90% would only fetch 2x-3x face and no one (around here at least) would pay a premium for 40%!
I used to love going to out-of-the-way banks back then!
Did they have to go back in the vault to get them?
Did you have the feeling that they'd been sitting in the bank for a long time?

<< <i>You didn't happen to be traveling in a 1981 DeLorean DMC while topping 88 MPH on your way to this bank did you??? That's what it sounds like to me
Congrats!!! Nice Score!!!

Is that 40% enough to pay for the plutonium to produce the 1.21 gigawatts needed to power the Flux Capacitor (1 pellet, 1 trip, need 2 pellets to get it and bring it back to present day!...lol)?
Kidding aside, congrats on a nice score!
I'm not buying your story until we have images.

Many members on this forum that now it cannot fit in my signature. Please ask for entire list.
My dad, while traveling the great USA in early 1990's received a full silver roll of Mercs with some Roosies for the pay phones.

That's a big WOW, fer sure!
Better than the bunch I got from my credit union several years back. I think I got about four rolls that were solid 40%, with only two coins being exceptions (one clad and one 90% Kennedy).
I seldom get half dollar rolls, and with that one exception, I never get silver. Have never gotten Frankies or Walkers like some folks occasionally do.

I'm really old school and my old Nikon needs a card reader to upload pictures.
P.S. Yes I still use a flip phone.............really
I want to get the pictures up because all the coins must have been stored where it was damp as the edges of all coins were tarnished......not toned and some of the BU coins actually had significant greenish discoloration on edges.
I'm a believer!
Though i had faith from the start on this one.
What a great score!!!

<< <i>Anyone got an estimate on the silver value of this find? >>
corrected to show a more reasonable figure: $1,200
So, as coins go, I would imagine you could check Pop. reports and maybe submit a few and "score" that way, too. It's a matter of how "in depth" one looks at coins. (my humble opinion, as always) Incidentally, "you suck".
