You need to get yourself an attorney, file a police report and threaten to spread this story on social media. With the Eli story last week, I feel like Steiner would probably send Ewing to personally delivery your litho(s).

I had to file an online police report on a promotor one time and it got cleared up pretty fast when the detective paid them a visit.

Especially since it is likely he (Ewing) has both of them.
Edit to add:
I'm serious. Ewing is a common denominator. Perhaps there is a Steiner employee who was in the chain of possession both times, but I find it unlikely that an inside thief wouldn't have been caught earlier or only limited their theft to your two items.
This is pretty bad. I agree that Steiner should bite the bullet and try to get one of the original signed prints if they can't retrieve your two prints.
That's just awful, Mike. I'd have been sick the first time around, but I'd be pretty angry this time. It sure doesn't seem like this can be chalked up to coincidence. Might be worth consulting an attorney and see if he/she is willing to ask some pointed questions.
Saw the Steiner thread at the top of the forum. Figured I'd post my update...I settled with them...again. Pretty wild. I'm satisfied with the settlement but would certainly have preferred my litho back...again.
Call the local New York City newspapers they are always interested in a good story. Nobody likes bad publicity especially one that deals with the public. It might speed up or get better resolution.
Without revealing too much of our conversation, the woman who I eventually had a nice conversation with...after a not so great exchange with Brandon Steiner...she's their COO, basically admitted a concession that it was very likely stolen and not simply lost by a shipping company. Her exact phrase was that she DID think someone was "targeting" high profile items like this. and I believed her when she says she's been "investigating" for a couple months. She's ruled out several steps along the way but not all of them. I went on to retort that perhaps they should set a limit to what they'll accept to decrease their liability. Her reply was interesting in that it was, "it's something we've seriously considered but we want to be the place where difficult/impossible things can happen and that's the choice we have to make." All in all, they settled for what I asked for, and what I asked for was fair. That's why I'm not posting much more about it. You guys know how I feel. I'm a collector not a reseller so this killed me on the inside. I'm also not a guy that talks out of school. I didn't sign an NDA and that would have been a dealbreaker for me. I'm a private guy though.
Also, special thanks to Scott Smith (the SI King) who is the one that I sent my submission through. He was on their asses every step of the way and I've thanked him profusely. Figured i should do it publicly as well. When I finally got directly involved, I was the "what the F@#$!!!!! guy" who had this happen a second time. But up until I had to step in, Scott was fantastic and I hope to continue to do business with him.
I'm glad you received compensation you felt is fair, but I'm still bothered that this happened twice and both times, with the same signer, if I remember correctly. Kudos to you for being at peace with it. Do you think you'll ever try assembling another?
Also, did you ever consider pursuing a police investigation during either process?
I filed a police report the first time. It was weird, New Rochelle police wouldn't take a report over the phone so I had to file one in Burbank, CA; where I live. Honestly I was just too busy working to ever make time to do it the second time.
Will I ever try another? I highly doubt it. A few guys have died in the interim each time. It's only 4/5 completable now.
2 Lithos popped up on the Bay. The second one is completed, don't know if yours was done in black on the first one. Price is pretty reasonable, almost too good to be true or stolen.

This makes me never want to do a group project again, yikes x 2

Mike, I hope you can get some real remediation this go-round. Seems just like yesterday we were reading about the first debacle. Unreal.
Wow, sick to read about this happening to you again Mike. Who is the promoter?

2 times and the same company. ...they were stolen. Not a chance in hell they are lost. Sorry to hear about this. I will keep a look out.
This is such BS. I'm so sorry this happened to you, Mike, yet AGAIN!
I've personally never had a good transaction with them. Something always ends up happening...

It's now resolved on my end. I was satisfied with their solution although receiving my litho back was my first choice.

Mike, was anything determined as to which stage of the process it grew legs and disappeared? Steiner? Ewing?
Yes, this.

I'm with you, Mike. I would have rather had the piece back than the compensation, but at least you were treated fairly.

Also one in a current auction house, but not sure which one. Goldin?
Good looking out, guys. Neither are my two lost ones but I always appreciate someone saying something when one pops up.

Nope. The pencil signed ones are those that were given to the players in 96. Mine were both blue sharpie. Thanks for the tag though.
