I'm in. Appreciate the work and time that goes in. Some where out there, is a destroyed , metals mining, oil/gas/coal stock that will go up 2000% next year, if it doesn't go bankrupt first.
I combined some highly volatile derivative bets with a couple of undercapitalized market darlings and got...............slow-moving, uneventful, boring, below-average performance!
I won't make THAT mistake again. I'll make some other stupid mistake.
Thanks, WR!!
Q: Are You Printing Money? Bernanke: Not Literally
I swung for the fences with options and struck out, even though one of the underlying stocks went up 13% yesterday and another 4% today (high beta) they still need another white swan to break even or move positive for the year. Have fun every year, did well last year, so maybe next year will be another winner in the game. Thanks to WR! I still say we all participants send him a silver dime or quarter and he keeps some and distributes the rest to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place if he's game enough for a 2015 contest
I still can't believe I screwed up posting my %'s. I would be in the top 5 right now with a balance of $10981.21 even with Twitter's nosedive...... Oh well, there's always next year to try to screw up again.....
@ Elite CNC Routing & Woodworks on Facebook. Check out my work. Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.
I had three picks this year, I had one huge dog, down 90%, that might file BK any minute, KWK. Got blown out of that position earlier in the year by plummeting price action ( One speculative micro cap that held it's own, OXYS , that I sold when it ran up a 80-100% in a couple of days a month ago, pump and dump apparently, now it's almost back to the Mendoza One that has done extremely well, TTPH which I still own, but it's getting pricey. probably overvalued, but the superbug antibiotic space is all pricey.
Not much longer to get the new picks ready, but I feel good about my chances though, because I think I'm going to consult Stan this year ;~
I am still kicking myself for not buying any of the stock that I picked for this contest. Still not as bad as selling stock options in the company I work for only to see the value triple in a years time
<< <i>Certainly you didn't sell them ALL SlangNRox, right? So you're happy about the rise in the value of the portion you held...
No one ever went broke taking a profit; it could have gone the other way. >>
Sadly they are all gone Still have shares in my company, but the options were all sold. Some I had to sell within the year, but most I could've held onto for another 4-5 years. Who would've thought WAG would go from the high 20s to mid 70s so quickly. I was just happy that they were in the money.
Didn't play 2014 but it's kind of cool to see that 35 of 51 people made or didn't lose money (hypothetically) in a year that wasn't all that fruitful. Nice job guys.
To forgive is to free a prisoner, and to discover that prisoner was you.
Thanks again for running this contest and keeping track of everything. Unfortunately I didn't have an idea of what to pick for the 2015 contest so I didn't enter.

Am I missing smoething here? It looks like only 18 of 53 were in-the-black to me.

Why not...I always like to embarrass myself in public.

Yes, but only if everyone ahead of me drops out!

That might get you on the 'naughty list' and banned for 2015.

That is the best way to go for the win as no real money is involved.
I will probably pick another short this year (if the contest is on). Even a home run will never be better than third place or so.
