Big BBCE announcement?

Just went to bbce and saw this on their front page:

"On October 1st 1990, Baseball Card Exchange officially opened its doors. Today, October 1st 2013, 23 years later, we have made a major decision. We'll be making an announcement in the next few days."

Anyone want to make guesses?

Edited to add: Where on the site did you see this? I looked and did not see anything to this effect.

Announcing a product verification/authentication service...at a cost of 10% of the retail value of the box...minimum $25/box???...too specific?

    Yeah, brilliant.

He can make more money in 1 day at the National than he would make working full time at PSA for a year.

  • 19541954 Posts: 2,905 ✭✭✭
Webb63 - We are speaking the same language here. There is no way he is selling out and there is no way he is working for someone. Steve is too successful to do that.

He can make more money part-time at PSA HQ authenticating packs than he would make running around the country looking for dried-up product for a year.

Fixed that for ya maurice. i bet that getting flown out to SoCal 12 times a year to work 3 days a month is a pretty attractive option right now over dealing with all us needy yokels in retail all day long.

    +1

Steve has stated several times that the money he makes working for PSA is rather nominal. I can't imagine that scenario.

^^That^^ I think I saw this mentioned on their facebook page. But it could have been a hallucination.

My other guess is that they hired Wes Spece away from Rick. Or maybe they are bringing on Pepe to help with pack authentication.

I'll fess up. I never expected him to take the offer, but I must have caught him at a weak moment. I offered him a bowl of soup to take it all off his hands.

I'll go with retail as well for my guess.

Maurice ... what time was that on the website. All I see on that page is: UPDATE: The 1981 Topps baseball cello boxes are sold out at $200 each. We hope to have some fresh wax boxes from 1981 next week.

    Thanks, Steve.
