Finally located a decent XF/AU 1898 Nickel for my desk set ... not a stunning coin by any means - but I didn't want to sink in too much money as it was ...
Found this on Collectors Corner - with Jade Rare Coin -
for what ever reason the image isn't attaching...maybe now - from Photobucket:
At the recent Baltimore Stack's Bowers auction, I spotted a nice 1907 Phila Quarter
PCGS graded AU 58. I placed a conservative bid and I won the coin for around 60%
of my bid. ( First time that's ever happened !! )
Well, as I've decided to sell off all but a few of my Halves, I have spotted
this AU 58 CAC from our friend, CRO: it's on it's way to me by the weekend
once he receives my check. Not that I think it'll upgrade to a 58+, really don't
care. I like the coin for a 58, and so does Albanese.
Although I have not yet had my FUN purchases imaged yet, I have made arrangements to
have the Proof V Nickels professionally imaged.
The Long Beach show provided me with two newps: an 1894 and a 1907 pair of Nickels,
both PCGS 66 both CAC .... Here are the Heritage images to move this thread along:

I love this Barber thread. I follow it closely, even though I don't say anything.
Question...do you have an unc. example of the 1905-O Micro-o and would love to see an example of your 1893/2 dime.
Keep'em coming.
I'll post my 1893/2 in PC 63; I only have an AU 50 Micro O.
One of these days, I'll add yet another AU 58 overdate.
The Micro O in 63-65 is a pricey devil.
I can now concentrate on the MS and PR sets.
I'm glad you have enjoyed the images.

1906-S PCGS AU 58 ( due within a week or so )
Also....I'm looking forward to be closing on a half dozen more AU 58 Dimes.
I should know the results by next Monday.
Same goes for a few V Nickels.... Spotted a nice Proof and a couple of MS dates
I needed ...plus, a duplicate, a super AU 64 look with golden rim toning - which should be
sold by Sunday evening.

Newps from Great Collections' Auction last night -
EDIT: Sent this 1901 V Nickel to CAC - and it was rejected
due to PVC in front of Liberty's face. My YN has dipped this
in acetone since it came back from CAC, he fears the PVC has
etched into the surface. It'll take years in an old Raymond Waite
album to get it back into a PCGS holder again. Ugh.
My only win at Heritage - a nice proof V Nickel.

About 6 weeks ago, I bought a raw 1915 Dime which I wanted in AU 58 - as I owned a MS & a PR.
I took my chances and ended up with a dupe MS 63....
This one was to have an obsolete Doiley Holder - with Secure Plus Grading -
once received - its off to get a sticker at CAC - I hope its Gold - basically, if you cant get what you wanted
lets hope you get what you prayed for !! lol
Mike Hayes ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Coin collecting is not a hobby, it's an obsession !
I've been searching for a nice - but not an outrageously priced 1896 Proof Dime.
I spotted this one - and am pleased to say my snipe bid on eBay held up [ thru
a Snipe Program that I signed up for a few years ago.]
Edit: Pleased to announce that this Proof Dime was accepted at CAC and
sports a bright green football. I could have laid even money, it would have
been a Gold CAC Bean ....oh, well.
Not too shabby, IMHO.

My iPad has a mind of its own, it seems, and I ended up
looking for AU 58 Barber Dimes..... and I spotted a date I've
been searching for....at JJ Teaparty in Massachusetts.
Having dealt with Liz since she worked for Dave Bowers in
Wolfeboro, NH, I called on a choice ( albeit, common ) 1903
in PCGS 58.
Looks like a nice coin and I should have it in time to include it
with my next consignment with Messydesk, for images.

I'm very shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Mike Hayes today. I followed this thread closely awaiting Mike's newest Barber or V Nickel. I'm heartbroken to know that this thread will not continue.
I will think of you often Mike. You were a great guy, may you rest in peace.

I do have a number of newps to post - but have not had any images taken yet.
One coin I have wanted for too many years than I care to mention... was made
available and I didn't want to pass it up - as it meant too much to me:
PCGS PR 64 CAM - and I sent it to CAC where it passed:
