Coins can be hard to grade by image/photo as opposed to in hand. Some additional great comparison 1909C Sovereigns can be viewed in the auction archives at the Heritage website. (including MS64 and SP65, etc). My 1909C has good lustre and fields. No trace of wear - looks perfect or nearly+. PCGS grades the coin as MS66 Click for PCGS Certificate Verification and Enlarged Image I don't disagree. I believe it to be deserving of the grade assigned.
The 1908C is a beauty! It is a Norweb example. One of three Norweb 1908C's that were high grades. Being specimen: specimen coins were usually doublestruck on special polished blanks using special dies on a slow high pressure press, the process was managed carefully. Thus, greater details are easily seen in higher grade coins. This one is SP66+, another out there is SP67 (probably one of the other Norweb's).
wow.... I am speechless... now I guess you are going to say you also have the 1916? and probably in SP66? Ohh... how I envy some of you...... I actually bid on one some time ago in Britain and jumped ship at GBP 16500.
I hope it looks as good "in hand" as it does from the sellers pictures! The hit in the obverse field at 10:00 is a bit disconcerting but I'm hoping the original surfaces make up for it.
Seriously- terrific coins and I like the Tunisian set as well. There is the Franklin Mint one and then the set from the Italian mint. I think the cases are different and the Italian set is tougher to obtain

You know, its amazing enough that a 200+ year coin can end up in such pristine condition taking into perspective the turmoil that has raged on the European continent in that time frame. It is a wonder that any coinage has made it past F-12!

True, but there are many cellars and catacombs
edit: also Europeans have tended to be very good about moving their precious belongings during wartime to avoid such pillaging and atrocities of which you spoke. Obviously this isn't always possible and too much has been lost, but even more has been saved. The biggest miracle IMO is the paintings and frescos. Coins are much more easily transported.
A surprisingly difficult token in true MS. (the Canadian Colonial Tokens are all quite difficult in MS).
I've seen several of this type in low MS holders with that greasy "thumbed" copper look. This one has some nice color and great luster. I'm not sure what's holding it back at 63??

I've had this one for awhile but just had it graded...pop 3/0, a very scarce coin and with Malaya being hotter than a black car in the Texas heat probably a pretty pricey coin:
