It looks like this card was just graded on the 20th of July. Pretty amazing they graded one with no perforations. >>

LOL, I can say for certain that one is trimmed!

Pretty funny this seller thinks the lack of perforations is a good thing.

This is the card that is the trimmed card that got graded. I will be ticked if a trimmed card turns the BGS 9.5 into a Pop 2.

I'm not sure how that lower right corner even got edge and corner grades of 9, no chance of that card ever bumping. Some strategic glare on the slabbed version to hide most of it.

I noticed the same thing. No clue how that gets a 9. If a nice raw copy shows up it will bring more then $113. When I saw this auction I thought who is the moron who bought the trimmed card. The description of their auction is just classic. I wonder if they even realize that it is clearly trimmed.

Who ever runs Small Traditions blew up the pop reports on this set. They must have found someone who had a ton of sheets. It has been surprising how quickly they have been trying to sell them and I am hoping to pick off one of their Dwayne Johnson 10's at a good price.

That said I feel bad for whomever buys this card and just another reason why I am not a BGS fan.

Notice anything wrong with this card?

I bet you are right that it was that lot that sold on EBAY. I just can't believe BGS holders these clearly trimmed examples. The one I posted above doesn't even look cut straight. It should get an AUTH grade and instead graded mint.

Cut straight? I wonder what I am missing, because to me it looks like it is twice the size dimension of the perforated 9.5 one you posted earlier, let alone that it does not have the perforations.

The card doesn't look cut straight to me. That said it shouldn't be cut and instead separated leaving the perforations. This is terrible grading.
  • Apparently, I attended this one and only game where these cards were given out at the Orange Bowl back in 1994 because I was looking through my old collection and I found 2 sets of these cards protected in plastic. They're both in excellent condition, although they're separated and not still part of a single sheet. One set is missing 4 of the guys who no one will probably remember. I was only 12 years old back then! Message me if you'd like to buy mine. I'd like to sell them.

    Best,

    Anthony

Beyond excited. They turned down three out of four items but this one is real.

Going to send it to PSA again because it’s real and a 1994 Boosters signed team set. A Dwayne Johnson signature as Ray Lewis’s back up is huge. This belongs in a red flip. An 8 easy and signed by Dwayne in college. Awesome!!

And The Rock commented when I first posted it on Instagram.

Finally a sale of this card higher than a price I paid! LOL I bought my PSA 10 for $725.

This copy went for $850. Hoping a floor is in on this card. Sitting on a PSA 9 and BGS 9.5 that are probably worth half of what I paid.

I own tons of copies of the same cards so I am not one to talk but we are seeing action right now where people are loading up at the same time on super star cards.

Four Dwayne Johnson's sold yesterday and two to each buyer.

This is the highest priced sale in a very long time for the Dwayne Johnson. Up to to $1,130 for this PSA 10.

    Very nice to see!

One just went off at $1,925 the other day and this one is at $1,975. Incredible move higher on the PSA 10.

A PSA 9 recently went for $855. Love it.

Damn! Been looking for one of these (prefer graded)... not a fan of Probstein auctions though... notorious for crazy shill bidding

  • CrashingwavesCrashingwaves Posts: 178 ✭✭✭

3k.... is that the normal range for a PSA 10? Probstein auctions always end for suspiciously high amounts.

If anyone has one to sell.... interested.

  • Dpeck100Dpeck100 Posts: 10,912 ✭✭✭✭✭

There are three sales showing from last night at 3k on EBAY.

This is much higher than recent sales but I keep seeing this all over the place so hard to know where this card settles.

I took my BGS 9.5 down because I don't know how to value it and I don't need to sell.

3 sales? All PSA 10? Only saw the 2.... POP report says there are 30 PSA 10s.... surprised this went so high with such a large pop.

Was hoping to get one to go with this... and my 1997 Cardinal Wrestling Rocky Mavia BGS 9.5

  • Dpeck100Dpeck100 Posts: 10,912 ✭✭✭✭✭

That Rock auto is sick! Such a tough card due to chipping on the back of these. I so regret not winning it the first time it hit EBAY and went for like $575. The second time it went over $1,200.

I relisted my Dwayne Johnson BGS 9.5 yesterday and it sold tonight. I still have a PSA 9, PSA 10 and the signed in college card so I am fine letting this one go.

I freed a Rock football card off the perforated sheet tonight. I will have to get it and put the scan on here. I will need to send this one to PSA and hope for the best!

Fresh high for this card in a 10. Cleared 6k.

It just seems like superstar cards are all going up across the board.

Uggghh.... passed on this card a few times when it was under 1k.... kicking myself.

That said... I find Probstein and PWCC auctions end a little too high.... both have been accused of shilling and can believe it.

Rovell posted this as well. Talked about how he bought a PSA 9 for $300 about 6 months ago.

The Dwayne Johnson PSA 9 I listed set another new high. The final price with shipping was $3,292.99. I shipped the card out today and the buyer will have it Monday.

Nice ROI! Think I traded you my 9 for your 8 and cash. Don’t remember how much. But was happy at the time since I didn’t really collect for condition. Watching the run on prices is incredible. I was pleasantly surprised with my sales back in May but looks like I left thousands on the table and things are showing no signs of slowing down.

Yes I traded you my PSA 8 and $200 for it.

I still have my PSA 10 and the signed one that I got a full JSA letter on. Keeping those.

I remember when I had the record at $2300. Sigh...regrets.

Good for everyone who held on to theirs. It's a really neat item that should stand the test of time. Love the confluence of food sponsor + collegiate + limited print run.

Not on the auto, but is the card down to its pre pandemic bubble FMV ?

The Black Adam flop could not have helped :)

  • Dpeck100Dpeck100 Posts: 10,912 ✭✭✭✭✭

The 1994 went on a moon shot which blew my mind at the time. I only own this copy at this point after selling my others in 2021 and don't follow it super closely but I see a PSA 10 in Goldin went for a little over 13k a few months back. I also see some for sale in that range on EBAY not moving. Hard to know the market clearing price right now on lots of cards.

Pre pandemic this was my worst pick ever. Every copy I purchased I was down on until it just went nuts. A PSA 10 was around $725 in 2017 and then dropped to the mid $500 range and then moved back up some and then went bananas.

Lower grade copies not sure but a 10 is still conservatively 15X pre pandemic levels.
