Haven't seen these Engelhard Prospector rounds before, but they could fool the unsuspecting. The seller honestly lists them as "Silver Plated" but there is no indication of this on the item itself.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

Many members on this forum that now it cannot fit in my signature. Please ask for entire list.
It is even worse when you realize there are now fake TPG slabs out there with serial numbers that match real ones!
This could really but a crimp on collecting.
It's important to note, Engelhard did not make proof rounds - If you come across any proofs they are definitely not silver.

<< <i>Some of these came into a local shop here in town a while back. I posted photo's of them here on the pm forum.

Exactly ... and these rounds have been around for a while.
I'm assuming it gets to be a gray area, in laws regarding making such things.
If a US coin, illegal to copy.
If its silver with a duplicate image ok.
If it 90% or a commemorative its ok.
If it looks like it and less than xx%... (I don't know.)

Quite right rawteam1.
Genuine silver proof Prospectors are uncommon but do exist. I have one dated 1986 with the Eagle/Flag reverse. It is distinctly different from the one bogus 1984 example I keep to educate the unwary at coin shows. The Canadian Prospectors and 1986 Everest Prospectors are also proofs.

lol, is that a Johnny Dangerously reference? I still like watching that movie. The newspaper headlines comes flashing across the screen "This means fargin war" LMAO!
I like the sellers preppers advice. One can never be too paranoid LOL What a joke.
<< <i>One may think the original mints and producers of these items would be the first to balk and complain when these appear, esp on something like ebay.

Besides the law in regards of making such thing, I think the issue here is on the copyright. I doubt that NWT, Sunshine, etc... forgot to register their logos.
My company doesn't allow the use of our logo to anybody, not even the companies we sell our merchandise to.
