??? The "only thing"? It's just a flag. How is that label any different than this?

The coin above has a 4 color print. I gave up counting on the Canadian label when I hit the coat of arms. must be over 10. There really isn't a place for a green label nowimage

Wonder how come they couldn't get the denomination right?

I'm also looking forward to your grades and anticipating big profits from your flips, coingrats and please keep us posted

Well, the US flag only has three colors in it, so I imagine that has something to do with the fewer number used. image

<< <i>I gave up counting on the Canadian label when I hit the coat of arms. must be over 10. >>

??? Aside from the red, white, blue & black that is on the US flag label, there are only two other colors- yellow and green.

Sure there is. Right over that distracting yellowish disk in the center of the slab.

Ok- I looked at a larger image of the flag and I'll give you that. Still- it's not more than ten colors. image

    Some have gotten shipping notice.
  • One of the qualities of these coins that most seem to embrace is the originality of this offering. Maybe a crazy idea but has anyone besides myself considered leaving this original offering in the original packaging.
  • I would imagine they used a four-color process on both labels: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black.
Let's try not to get upset.

Does anybody have a link to a source showing the original packaging? The boxes and capsules and etc.?

<< <i>Just ordered one of the $5's. The checkout wouldn't take my card (said my AMEX wasn't an AMEX). Called and was told alot are no longer available by phone, only on the internet. The CS rep was sooo niice, she got her supervisor to 'pull' one for a phone sale, gave them the CC #, went right through. Boy, the U.S. Mint should send there CS people up north for a week to learn what customer service is...they were just terrific. Also was told, these are flying 'off the shelves', but the shipping date is 'by 12/28' ...no biggie for one of these. >>

I take it the 12/28 shipping date did not compute?

<< <i>What no one has mentioned (unless I missed it) is that the mint is limiting the purchases to 3. I like this as it will (or at least should) avoid large distributions to the likes of "Coin Vault".

I was glad the US Mint did this when they released the Ultra High Relief gold coin a few years ago.

I wish I had found this thread before the $5 coins sold out, but at least I am happy to have got in on the $10's.

Best of luck to all regardless of your opinion on this issue. >>

Was that three of each date or three of each denomination or what?

Pretty terrible picture, but even so, probably a 62. Maybe 63 on a loose day.

  • Maybe less than impressive but AU's sell on ebay and an AU sold at the latest SB auction for about $500 so and unc. is still worth $500. With that said I thought the $500 models just might be less than impressive and found a really nice NGC MS63 (a real 63) for $650 so I bought that and figured I might sell my coin from RCM sealed (everybody likes to buy the sealed). Now that plan is more likely.

    62/63 quality, bad picture.

Wait for more results. I believe people will be pulling 63/64 quality out of hand selected groups.

You guys are tough on it.

I was under the impression that these were supposed to come sealed, not in an airtite.
Doesn't this allow for the coin to be swapped before submitting it and still getting the special label? (given that there are better coins out there, which I don't know)

To me not but a lot of people like (read: pay premium) for special labels and I was thinking that, if the average condition of this hoard is low, someone may send a better coin to be graded as top pop with the new label.
    It was just a thought.

edited to add: I would have preferred a sealed flip with a nice label instead of the box, but it is just because of the way I store my coins.

  • IF the coins can be swapped PCGS/NGC will require sealed mailing boxes. Problem solved.

If I recall correctly, both PCGS and NGC require the coins to be submitted in the RCM capsule with RCM hologram sealing the capsule in order to receive the special insert. I don't have any of these in-hand, but I can imagine that the hologram might tear easily if removed and this might keep folks from submitting other coins.

Are all the capsules sealed with a hologram, or just the Premium Hand-Selected ones?
