Been looking for a number of pieces. I guess my "white whale" would be a well struck 1918-S Buffalo Nickel in MS63 condition. I know they exist, but I've not seen one in years. Grade inflation perhaps.

  • Proof Barber Dime for my type set. Hey I know its not tough, there are plenty out there. It's next on my list !!

A Double Eagle Liberty Head without the motto on the reverse. One with a lot of luster on it. Maybe 1857, since it's somewhat affordable in MS-60.

A friend of mine owns a Franklin 50c that is double struck on a 10c planchet with the second strike about 50% off center.
Double struck Franklins are extremely rare and it is just an amazing coin being on the wrong planchet too.

    Nothing too exotic.
Just an AU 10$ Indian as nice as some of the ones I've seen in other members' collections.

#1 on my Dream-On List is a $50 Pan-Pac octagonal. An 1848 $2.5 "CAL" is way up there too.

Among things that can maybe actually happen are:
    1568 Scotland ryal "sword dollar"
    1571 Scotland ryal "sword dollar"
    When in doubt, don't.

I'd like to have an 1851 U.S. Assay Offfice octagonal $50 gold slug. Since I have the Pan-Pac $50 gold piece, which was af commemorative to those coins, I'd like to have an example of the real thing.

One of everything, with each example the finest known.

If you want be to be slightly more specific, I'd really love to find a 1921 Peace Dollar with out-of-this-world hammered strike in a gem or higher grade. That is one coin that I'd find a way to buy, regardless of what the checkbook balance was at the time it showed up.
