I wanted to give you all a update on my stroke recovery. As some of you may remember I suffered a major brain stem stroke last December 4th. Its been a long road in my recovery I still have a giant aneurysm 1.5 CM round and 3.5cm long located in my brain stem. I wanted you all to know I have recovered all movement and strength in my left body side and my double vision has now corrected itself. I am now driving my stick shift car again and working a paying job in my area. Considering 3/4 of my brain stem was destroyed by the stroke my recovery has been nothing less than miraculous!. Am I at 100% of my pre stroke condition? No I am not but I suffer no pain and am able to have a normal day to day life. The fusion form aneurysm in my brain stem is inoperable as its location and size makes the risk of death too high. I am treated with blood thinners in the hope no more clots will develop. I am afraid though that this giant aneurysm will eventually take my life, as it grows it displaces brain tissue and presses nerves. I will eventually end up in a wheel chair and will die of aspiration pneumonia. I realy dont let this bother me and live each and every day to its fullest and just have fun!. I could live 1 year or 10 but it does not matter to me.

Aneurysms are no fun. Too bad they can't stint it where it's at.
Luckily my mother's 2 were able to be stinted, 15 years later you'd never know unless she shaved her head and you could see the stitch lines around her hairline where they had to do what they do to get in there. (it's nasty) So have faith that it just stays put and keep on keeping on!

I lost a sister-in-law this past Summer to a brain aneurysm.

Luckey for me my wife is a 20+ year R.N. that works in Hospice. I have written down for her my living will she knows I do not wish life support. She will make sure I sleep deep pain free when the time comes.

Anyway thanks to those that wished me well after my stroke. For awhile there it was a living nightmare!. Take care of your health don't smoke and eat right. At 54 years old I was too young to have a stroke. I always thought strokes were for 80-90 year olds. My mistake stroke can happen at any age and let me tell you from esperance a stroke is a nightmare, The first 4 weeks post stroke I honestly wanted to die its that bad!. The whole world becomes distorted and the things you once did easily now seem impossible!. I am lucky I stroked in front of my loving wife who is a 20+ year R.N. She knew what was happening and called 911 fast!. I O her big time! 5 more minutes and I would have been a Vegetable if I lived that is. Please folks take care of yourselves and don't take your trouble free life for granted! My trouble free life went to crap in less than 5 minutes! >>
Glad to hear of your recovery. I had a friend who worked at a funeral home and about half of the sudden death clients were in their 50s, so your experience is common. Your story does hammer home the point to enjoy life as well as prepare for the future. Strokes and heart attacks happen all the time to men in their 50s, especially those that feel stressed out. Stress can be a killer, and often a factor in heart attacks or strokes.
