Alice Paul?
When I saw the name I thought that she might be related to Ron Paul.
At any rate here we have another example of PC foolishness. Puck some obscure historical figure out of the woodwork and honor them with a coin while others who were far more important are ignored.

Why?
Because I have never bought a spouse coin til today.
My purchase means you have drawn the last holdout into your coven leaving no one left to sell to..............
I knew it would happen.
These are a good candidate for the those black retro holders.
No Way Out: Stimulus and Money Printing Are the Only Path Left
<< <i>I keep wondering who it was in congress that proposed Alice Paul for a presidential spouse program, and on what pretense. >>
bernanke did it, he liked the name.

Your assignment: Examine the Alice Paul coin and identify the sequential number of the presidential administration, the first and last year of this President's term of office, and the last name of the President whose administration is being commemorated.

I wasn't able to get to the MS version when I first went on, so I assumed they were not available. I was able later to find them, but I'm still waiting to bundle Mint products to save on shipping costs.
Exactly what I've been waiting to hear! I just placed my first "First Spouse" order.

<< <i>One nice thing about the First Spouse series is that the presidency being commemorated can be identified by examining the obverse for the sequential number of the presidency and the dates served by the spouse (or non-spouse).

Chester Arthur, 21st administration, 1885 (Paul's birthyear) - 1889, Wilson (1913-21) (I'm guessing the commemoration is for the passing of the 19th Amendment in 1920 - the reason there's a 48 star flag).
Anyway, there's no information on the coins leading to this information.
<< <i>There is a rumor that some people have made a lot of money on spouse gold coins, even the suckers that bought into the first year coins. >>
Just about everyone who bought in the first year made a lot of money... but mostly because the price of gold has more than doubled since then.

Congratulations. Now for a hot stock tip you might want to consider investing in Microsoft.
If you are an album maker and you have an album for FS coins will this be in it??
<< <i>Here is a serious question....
If you are an album maker and you have an album for FS coins will this be in it?? >>
If it's part of a series you'd have to include it.

This Alice Paul coin is not likely to be a popular issue among the OWM codger coin collecting commmunity. The Mint's marketing people should be taken out and shot.
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
<< <i>I hope that no one buys this junk. Even if there is an ultra low mintage, I still hope the speculators stay away from it. Let's vote with our pocketbooks and tell the Mint and Congress we don't want this PC junk.
Exactly what I've been waiting to hear! I just place my first "First Spouse" order. >>
And stamp collectors probably thought the same thing before the Post Office issued so much garbage that met nothing, which ultimately prompted collectors to throw up their hands and say "Enough!"
This collector trash will have a melt value so long as gold is worth something. It remains to be seen if there will be enough sheep in the collector herd who will be willing to keep paying profits to speculators for commemorative coins that commemorate nothing but PC topics for political sycophants.
<< <i>I presume this has been discussed, but I don't know why the Mint abandoned their winner pattern of substituting classic contemporary coin obverses for the FS coins of single/widowed presidents.

The Alice Paul coin was mandated by Congress, as were the four "Liberty" coins for presidents without spouses. The Mint had very little discretion in the matter.

the going guess is that they ran out of PC themed Liberties from the time (only indians left) and they went PC crazy on someone who was only born during this presidency and foolishly left nothing on the coin to tie it to the rest of the set, especially the 48 star flag of her era.
Then it dawned on me. They've floated away from the replica coinage to put some obscure lady on the coins!
I'm not a fan of this and literally ANYTHING could have been done other than this as a First Spouse representation in the series. This one was poorly thought out. But then, the US Mint and the United States Treasury Department aren't really known for giving anything much thought lately.
The name is LEE!
<< <i>When I receive the US Mint announcement email, I couldn't figure out who the heck it was! After all, we've never had a President Paul and in the past, the US Mint did renditions of coinage which was current during the Presidents administration if he didn't have a spouse.

blame Congress. it's in their law.

They don't have them on the schedule either. ??
Well, just Love coins, period.
<< <i>I must not be seeing it right - are there only proofs being offered? >>
proof and ms.
no bronze medal... yet?
hunt on the mint site. you'll find the ms one.

Looks like the late release is not hurting sales.
I guess as always wild card is mintages................
<< <i>And there are probably some who will include it in a five coin 'non spouse subset'. >>
I can't imagine anyone setting this piece of junk coin next to those 4 beautiful Liberty designs.

I stopped by the mint sales counter with loupe in hand today hoping to get a couple to send in for fs. Both of the uncs at the counter had rim dings.
I do like the design. The reverse has a very nice high relief effect I thought. Looks great on proof as well.

Union station is open later and on weekends.
call first as 1: union station foyer is sometimes closed due to private parties and 2: they may need to go to the vault to get stock, or may be out of stock.
man, having to move stinks.

no. it's a 1 coin subset... believe me.
Liberties next to a non-Liberty??? no.
Almost 25% of Alice Paul coins purchased.

Sales will taper fast, but 1000 more than the first week of the last issue.

Box of 20
<< <i>I doubt they will make no more than 2400 of this coin, but that is probably the mintage of the first run. Still 2 1/2 months to go. >>
The only possible reason that estimate might be low is if they decided that since this was basically a stand alone commemorative coin just pry barred in to the series they may have guestimated that there would be more demand and therefore minted more than an ordinary spouse coin based on the latest sales data. Maybe I am just thinking too hard.

OR they just did not think and I agree that you just think too hard
Besides Mary Lincoln, which they did strike more as they anticipated more demand, I didn't see they "think" in other FS coins.

Hardly....1st week's sales have already exceeded 3200
1,808 proof and 1,394 uncirculated.
<< <i>I don"t remember this president. Why? unfortunately I was robbed of my spouse coins. yes lots of pain, the bas,,,ds recked my 4 coin spouse subset. all 70s. i still have a few but not what I had. I want to buy in again but dont want to tie up 1000 per coin, any advice on buying PCGS graded 70 coins on this?
when were you burglarized???
I can't advise on buying in again sub $1000 because the release on each are over $1000. a lot of times on ebay these sell for near`what`the`current release is in 69.
should you want to try to get some sub 1000, try to pick up from private hands from someone selling for melt.
you'd get a you suck for any 70 at $1000 from me, especially the Liberties.

supposedly they sold more than 3k already.
