Think I told this story here before.....................................
Back in the 70's after getting out of the Army I went to college, 2 of my semesters were at the University of California at Davis. This is a Agriculture college, even though I was there for my Business degree. I lived in a group dorm with 9 other guys around a central cooking area. One of the guys was growing a crop of Wacky Weed in the Campus Greenhouses on the down low, and so we had an unlimited supply via the school.
I almost flunked out my second semester because I partook of the Mota a tad too much. One of the guys who saw me stoned so much started introducing me as "thedutymon" like some Rasta man walking around high all the time. Duty being my last name. It stuck the whole time I was there and at my next school.
Fast forward 20+ years, I'm buying my first personal computer, a Gateway, getting set up for my first E-Mail account, AOL......trying to think of something really stupid or profound, 'thedutymon" resurfaced, been stuck with it in one way or another for the last 15 years on the Internet!
True story and haven't touched the crap in 33 years!

Last name = Moon HS football coach started calling me "Moondoggie" 1/2 through senior season we played a state powerhouse and were getting smoked 36-0 at the half. On the 2nd half kickoff their guy was about to bust it for a TD, I was the safety and was lining him up for a big hit. He angled toward the sideline and to avoid the hit he jogged out of bounds...I thought screw it and nailed him anyway...waaay out of bounds - almost near the cheerleaders. Of course I got a 15 yard unsportsmanlike. The coach started screaming at me like I just cost us the game. He grabbed me by my facemask and started spitting all over my face while he ranted "are you MadMoondog?" Kinda stuck after that. I was/am a little mad. When I started buying cards - I just thought Mint was more ebay appropriate.
Representing one of my other hobbies, it's the nickname of one of the great wines of the world, a Burgundy called Clos des Ducs. If I sold some of my old cards, I could afford more of it!
My wife would sometimes call me that, when I'd be buzzing around the house, doing many things at once. The older I get, the less I am prone to that kind of multi-tasking.
...went to Cleveland State University in the early 80's. You may remember our 1986 Sweet 16 Hoops team (Took out Steve Alford's Indiana team and then St Josephs before losing to David Robinson's Navy team by a point on a BRUTAL call by the refs in the final seconds)...anyway, our team was coached by Kevin Mackey who termed our style of play as "Run and Stun"...we were the precursor to Nolan Richardson's "40 minutes of hell"...google our team from that year...we destroyed people...it was really fun to watch
Successful transactions with FavreFan1971, ffishonn, Davemri, Publius, DavidPuddy, frcarvell, recbball, and many others...

From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo. ~WalterSobchak
When I was a kid I was really into BMX bikes. I hung out at a local bike shop all the time and I'd call everything I liked "rad." When I was 16 I got a job there and the owner gave me the nickname rad, but spelled it Radd when he'd make my schedule.

Here is a very funny, albeit made-up, horse race call.
