I echo everyone's comments - that is SOOOOO COOOOL!!! I would LOVE to have one with a handle. I've seen pictures of the handles detached, and I have two so-called "pie cutters" or "gears" (see below) but I've never seen them together. What an amazing find - congratulations!
That's an interesting PIEce of Americana. I imagine that all pie crimpers made from coins were home-made. I wonder what a commercially-made one would have cost - probably no more than 5 cents.
I have never seen one of those before, Now I have seen them with and without the handle. Are there different types? OR are they just lumped together? Thanks for showing/sharing! Bob

It probably was. As the OP says, they are hard to find with the original handle intact. Most that you see are just the coin.
