OFFICIAL TOPPS BB GRP BREAK:73T Ser 4+5 WAX/75T CELLO/79T RACK - CANCELLED

EFFORT HALTED UNTIL A MORE CONSENSUS-BASED APPROACH TO GET THIS ADDITIONAL INVENTORY FLOWING MORE INTO THE MARKET IS ESTABLISHED.
Sorry to disappoint, but all of the drama isn't doing the community any good. Better to let it go and start back at square 1 at a later date.

Kinda being double standard there aren't you
Thanks for putting this together. I hope I'm lucky enough to get in. If not, I'm sure it will be a great rip for everyone involved.
Sounds like lots of fun.

Kinda being double standard there aren't you >>
No, not at all. The group rips we have done through BBCE were not set up by BBCE. The person who sets up the BBCE group rips isn't the same person who collects the funds and distributes the product. While this may seem like a small difference, I don't believe that it is. There is something to be said about a disinterested third party being involved with things like this.
Before we started running group rips through BBCE, we had a member who ran some very successful group rips, building trust with many members here. There was supposedly full disclosure about the source of the packs being distributed. In the end, he was outed for lying about his sources and there was real concern about him distributing packs that he had resealed himself.
That being said, I AM NOT ACCUSING THE OP OF THIS ACTIVITY! I am simply pointing out the difference between the group rips. Those that are run through a disinterested third party who is not participating in the group rip seems to make sense to be done here on the cards & memorabilia forum. It is a group activity that nobody participating in the group rip is profiting from. When the person organizing the rip, collecting the funds at a profit, and then distributing the product...including distributing packs to himself, it changes it to a buy/sell transaction.
<< <i>changes it to a buy/sell transaction. >>
I understand the distinction you're trying to make but money is still changing hands although a third party is involved. IMO, because most traffic goes through this forum, any group activity should be posted here.
<< <i><< I do not understand why everything comes to you, then ships to the buyer. Why not ship direct from "the source"? >> >>
Let's be honest, BBCE is unsurpassed in product authenticity and customer service. Steve goes FAR above and beyond what he has too. I dont believe we'll ever see another business do what he does to feed our unopened hunger. However, there are a handful individuals that have authentic material available. They just may not have the time to package 50 boxes. I know on this forum alone, besides 70Toppsfanatics 75 minis, many are waiting for MacrosB to start his own group rip.
<< <i>
<< <i>I do not understand why everything comes to you, then ships to the buyer. Why not ship direct from "the source"? >>
Yes. And who is this secret source that is so well respected but nobody knows that they have these rare boxes?
My guess is that the middleman in this rip exists so no one finds out who the true source is and "skips the line", purchasing these boxes before anyone else has a chance to.
I think it's great to do rips and share, but having a middleman further dilutes the pool of trust in these rips from what I've seen.
EDIT: I agree with Gumbyfan. >>
I've made it clear in the thread that ANYONE is free to contact me and I'll disclose all on a 1-to-1 basis. The only concern is to find the least eye-raising way to access (and have some negotiating leverage over) an inventory that continues to be very tightly controlled by the source.
It would be a hell of a lot easier to do this the way that BBCE breaks get done, but frankly based on the contacts I've made if the source was approached directly the most likely outcome is that access to this inventory would remain out of our reach
Dave
Thanks 70ToppsFanatic for setting this up and my PSA 10 minis.
Joe
Seems from your message that they have a bevy of unopened in all sports. As for your statement that "if it succeeds we will have found a very reliable source for vintage"....really? Buy 3 boxes and poof!! they are well respected and impeccable. If they have been a big reliable entity for many years, aren't they already?
As for PMing for more info, why can't we discuss it openly? We are talking about thousands of dollars here.
70Topps you may be a direct descendent of thee good Lord himself and I mean you no disrespect. Just asking Qs, that's all.
Best of luck to everyone on this one but I will sit it out.
Why dont 70Topps do a live video feed on Youtube as he removes the packs from the box and puts them into everyones package to ship. Im not sure if hes getting the boxes via mail but if he is, he could start the feed as hes opening the package.
just my 2 cents
<< <i>70Topps you may be a direct descendent of thee good Lord himself >>
That's Tim Tebow
The fact that the source of this unopened material remains secret disturbs me a lot. Why the secrecy???
I'm definitely out on this group break.
Thanks,

As far as posting a live feed on youtube, that guarantees everything is on the up and up...until the camera goes off. The potential to repackage everything is still there after the fact imo. AGAIN, not accusing the OP of anything of the sort. The bottom line is...without full disclosure to everyone up front, there is either a profit motive, or something else imo.
I dont understand one thing though, if anyone contacting the source directly would probably restrict access to the product...why whouldn't the same be true when the OP contacts them?
No dog in this fight so I digress...gl to everyone participating.

Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
I'd expound on that more, but I'm busy finishing out my wax pack wrapper bar top.

Collecting:
Any unopened Baseball cello and rack packs and boxes from the 1970's and early 1980s.
1) Happy to have company (and help packing) when stuff arrives. Jeff or anyone is welcome. We can work out the details once the requests are finalized.
2) Only reason not to post the source name is that the source is a bit eccentric and has historically been very controlling of how much they will sell and how it gets priced. Just trying to keep this effort off their radar so we have a better chance of landing some of the material. It's that simple. PM me if you want the full story.
3) Anything offered in this thread will be a straight pass-through transaction. We collect the wants, I take a bulk order in and see what pricing reductions can be obtained. I front the cash for the order. Then cost is then based on the bulk price plus any legitimate costs involved (i.e. actual S&H, paypal fees, etc.). I'm not looking to make ANYTHING on this. Just trying to open up access to more legitimate material because demand is greater than current sources of supply can meet.
Hope that helps

<< <i>This guy won't even answer a pm of mine wanting to purchase a card he supposedly has for more than vcp. I think it's because I told him I'd pass on a group of cards he quoted me a price on that was way over VCP. It seems ALL of this guys stuff is way overpriced, and you can say it's because it's from a trusted source, high end for the grade, blah blah blah, but really how much better can it be than trusted stuff from BBCEXCHANGE? As a huge buyer and ripper of higher end unopened, and I love to gamble as much as anyone, I will be sitting this one out as well. >>

He PM'd me after my comments and explained the source to me. I suggest 2 things:
1. The OP reveal the source to this whole thread. I think it will have a positive effect on this rip, and put some minds at ease.
2. PM the OP and ask about the source. You can then PM me and I will confirm what he told me.
Honestly I think he should have revealed the source from the get-go ... I'm trying to respect the OP by not posting it here but really it's not hard to guess ... was the first thing that came to my mind anyways. >>
This is getting blown out of proportion. At the risk of getting us on the wrong radar (if this unintended attention hasn't managed to do so already) and getting the whole thing shot down the source I am hoping to tap is Fritsch. Now can we get back to trying to open up that channel?

Cool! Then the estimate cost just went down to that level + the related costs (S&H, etc.).
Dave
And what's so eccentric and controlling about them that would make them not want to sell to us, but they sell to the public?

Good way to try and keep us off their radar screen nightcrawler...NOT!
Posts like yours are deliberate attempts to hurt rather than help this forum. If you have issues with this or me you could have easily PMed me
(like so many others did) and gotten full disclosure. Instead, you keep trying to destroy something that is intended to add to this community.
You have clearly crossed the line of between being cautious/protective versus being deliberately spiteful and destructive.
Congratulations on making it clear beyond a shadow of a doubt to everyone here that your only interests are in hearing/seeing yourself
make noise, tearing down others and generally trying to rain on parades that others are trying to make for common enjoyment of all.
I am finished responding to any more of your nonsense from this point forward. I'm not wasting any more time with you.

If you're smart you'll keep it at the bottom perpetually.
lol Walter.
What if someone who lives near Dave can assist in the opening of the boxes and help ship them out. I know Jeff (jeffcbay) offered to do this on Dave's earlier box rip and Dave was receptive to it. Just a thought to help ease everyone's minds.
Mike that does not solve the problem.....the boxes will be there before Jeff gets there
here is what I suggest. Set up the deal, like is normally done with Steve, pay Fritsch directly, have FRITSCH ship it.
Why is there any need to deviate from what we know already works? Why would anyone need to deviate from what we know already works?
