Lost pcgs genuine 1853 d one dollar gold at fun show

I was walking my coins and some coins for other dealers around and wound up missing an 1853 d one dollar gold piece. It was pcgs genuine with a mount removed. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

If possible, do you have the certification number and/or a picture? They might go a long way in your search.

Ugh. I can imagine that you are sick about this, especially if the coin belongs to someone else. Might it have been packed away in a "safe" place where you forgot about it? Sometimes I will place a single coin in a pocket of my bag to keep it away from other pieces or will place a coin in a safe deposit box away from other coins. Good luck.

I would email the show promoter and dealers you showed the coin to informing them the coin is missing and to check their inventory. Hopefully someone honest has it and will return it.

Bummer. I lost a mint state 1872 3cs once for about 3 months, but ended up finding it. I remember the feeling well.

I'm guessing it was in the pocket of the jacket you wore that day and didn't wear for some time afterward. Or was it in a compartment in your bag/briefcase you don't ususally use? --Jerry

I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.

Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
