I'd expect "No" too, as the box wouldn't be Mint-sealed anymore.

I believe you are correct...I think that option is also available on cross-overs.

First Strike still has me questioning. Is it really going to return on the investment? I have seen it make a huge difference on some coins. Others not so much. I think most here think its a good thing to do for money return?

Some of the coin #s are listed on PCGS' website (I found them in the online submission form). They don't all appear to be there.

Wondering the same thing... it depends on the % of 70s you hit, plus the price spread between regular and FS labels. I've calculated it all out and just bang my head against the wall, it could go either way I think.

    PCGS ASE Coin Numbers

Looks like all five (including FS) will have "25th Anniversary Set" on them. S mintmark will be 2011-S. W unc. will be 2011-(W). Don't understand why the parenthesis around the W.

My bad. I have seen nothing that specified the "bullion coin from West Point" would be with our without the m/m. Since the bullion coin from SF will have the m/m I assumed it would be the same for the W coin. Have you seen anything published that specified no m/m on the set's W unc.? >>

The grade (PR70 vs. MS70) will do that as it has always done in the past.

Since PCGS normally uses parenthesis to designate a facility when there is no m/m it appears from the list that two uncircs. will have no m/m. and no uncircs. will have a W m/m.

I believe the bullion without m/m was struck at West Point and that the unc. with a W m/m unc. is included in the set. If correct it looks like PCGS is putting a (W) on the unc. with a W m/m but putting an S without parenthesis on the unc with the S m/m. The S is consistent with their other labeling for a coin with a m/m but the (W) is not consistent for a coin with a m/m. They have only used parenthesis to designate a mint facility when there was no m/m to do so. It appears the parenthesis around coin #509190/509409 are in error.

Coin numbers and coin ID appear to match PCGS ASE Coin Numbers.

The bullion coin w/ no mintmark is from the S.F. Mint. Coin World reported this from a Mint source on 10/27. I also verified it in a telephone conference w/ the Mint Public Affairs office. Last I heard, PCGS hasn't decided whether or not to certify the bullion (no-mm) coin as a 2011-(S) which would be consistent with other bullion coins verified to be from the S.F. Mint. Of course, PCGS would have to be able to verify the information. So far, the Mint hasn't issued a separate press release on the matter and likely will not unless collectors demand it of them. I asked the Mint whether the COA included in the set would verify the bullion coins as being struck in S.F. and they said likely not since those were printed in advance and the decision to strike the bullion in S.F. wasn't decided until later. I was told they would check on that however and am expecting a call back regarding the COA.

If you guys want the non-mm bullion coin certified as being from San Francisco as a 2011-(S), it wouldn't hurt to make your preferences known to both the Mint (to clarify the information on the website) and to PCGS.

good info, thanks. Now the question with the coin number list is why the parenthesis around the W for the uncirc. that has a W mintmark? Not consistent with previous PCGS labeling methods.

I think one is enough, it would get a little confusing having the real S Mint mark and the non mint mark S.

Actually, I believe that an error has been made with 2011-(W).

According to the October 31st, 2011 edition of Coin World, the coins in the set are:

    One 2011-W Proof
    One 2011-P Reverse Proof
    One 2011-S Burnished Uncirculated
    One 2011-W Burnished Uncirculated
One 2011 bullion uncirculated produced at the San Francisco Mint (which should rightfully get a 2011-(S) date.)

"US Mint officials decided that all bullion coin production for the set would be done at the San Francisco Facility."

    This means that:

    509185 2011 $1 Silver Eagle 25th Anniversary Set MS
    509408 2011 $1 Silver Eagle 25th Anniversary Set-First Strike MS

    should actually be

    509185 2011-(S) $1 Silver Eagle 25th Anniversary Set MS
    509408 2011-(S) $1 Silver Eagle 25th Anniversary Set-First Strike MS

    and

    509190 2011-(W) $1 Silver Eagle 25th Anniversary Set MS
    509409 2011-(W) $1 Silver Eagle 25th Anniversary Set - First Strike MS

Can anyone tell me how to have my 5 sets in one mint box graded set by set, each coin in the set graded consecutively? Do I have to enter each coin in the set one by one and repeat that 4x on the submission form? Also, with only 20 lines on each submission form, I probably have to use a second one for the last five coins. Do I put all the totals on the 2nd submission form? Please help!

I was just notified that PCGS is correcting the coin number attributes to reflect 2011-(S) for the bullion coin (since it's minted at the SF Facility) and 2011-W for the burnished uncirculated West Point coin.

<< <i>Can anyone tell me how to have my 5 sets in one mint box graded set by set, each coin in the set graded consecutively? Do I have to enter each coin in the set one by one and repeat that 4x on the submission form? Also, with only 20 lines on each submission form, I probably have to use a second one for the last five coins. Do I put all the totals on the 2nd submission form? Please help! >>

the only way to guarantee sequential numbers is to submit one set per form (that'll cost ya.).

Thanks for starting this thread Don. At one time, your site indicated that the coins had to be submitted by the 11/27/11 to get first strike. I see that it has been modified. So, does the seal box rule apply to these sets - as long as they were shipped from the mint within 30 days and are still in the Mint sealed box, all the coins are eligible for First Strike?

here's a question no one has asked, would the return be higher, if you used express , vs modern + first strike, cost more but you could be first out with graded sets ?

That would be great news if they are doing 2011-(S) on the bullion coin.

Edited to add that I saw it listed in the link from the PCGS homepage... Looks good and I'm glad that PCGS took the time to get it right image

List each coin individually on the submission form by sets (25 lines total) as such:

    Line 1. 509408 2011-(S) Silver Eagle 25th Anniversary Set-First Strike
    Line 2. 509189 2011-S Silver Eagle 25th Anniversary Set-First Strike
    Line 3. 509409 2011-W Silver Eagle 25th Anniversary Set-First Strike
    Line 4. 509410 2011-W Silver Eagle 25th Anniversary Set-First Strike
Line 5. 509194 2011-P Silver Eagle 25th Anniversary Set- Proof Reverse First Strike
    Line 6. 509408 2011-(S) Silver Eagle 25th Anniversary Set-First Strike
    Line 7. 509189 2011-S Silver Eagle 25th Anniversary Set-First Strike
    Line 8. 509409 2011-W Silver Eagle 25th Anniversary Set-First Strike
    Line 9. 509410 2011-W Silver Eagle 25th Anniversary Set-First Strike
Line 10. 509194 2011-P Silver Eagle 25th Anniversary Set- Proof Reverse First Strike

    etc.

I would also put a note on the submission form to number the coins by set. That way when they print out the certs they will group them by sets rather than consecutively by coin type. You can print out a submission form online with more than 20 lines at:

I sent an email to PCGS regarding how to do this. Here is what the nice lady told me.

My question: I have a question about how to complete the submission form if I want each of the five sets (25 coins) to be graded consecutively. Do I repeat the PCGS coin numbers for the five coins for each set five times on the form? If so, do I complete a 2nd form for the last five coins and enter all the totals on that 2nd form?

Reply to question: Thank you for contacting PCGS customer service.

To get the 25th anniversary coins graded they need to come to us in the unopened packaged form the mint if you would like the 25th anniversary set designation on the label. The coins will be graded and slabbed individually. You may submit the coins under the modern service for $14 per coin and if you would like the First Strike designation then it is an additional $18 per coin. Since the coins are graded individually they will need separate PCGS coin numbers which you can find on www.pcgs.com/services . All coin may go under the same submission form.

My followup question: Just to be sure I am understanding your instructions, I would have one submission form with 5 lines, each for each different coin that is part of the set, with a quantity of five each.

Reply to f/up question: Yes that is correct. You may put the same coin on the line with a quantity of 5.

Don't know for sure if I was given the right instructions. I followed her advice. I guess I will find out in about a month.

Just make sure you print out a hard copy to mail with your set(s)....PCGS online submission system does not recognize the coin #'s yet. I tried to do it earlier today, but kept getting an error message saying coin no.'s not found.

After grouping a box of 10 20th anniversary sets on the submission form in the way you describe, I received the coin back in the order they were entered on the form i.e. 10 2006-W UNC ASE's consecutively numbered, followed by 10 Reverse Proof's consecutively numbered, and 10 Proof's consecutively numbered. After inquiring as to why coins were grouped by type rather than by sets (as I had wanted), customer service explained that if I wanted the coins grouped by sets, I should have listed them individually on the form. I was told the cert numbers are printed in the order the coins are listed on the submission form i.e. line 1 = cert 1, line 2 = cert 2, etc. so that is the way I would list them if you want to have them grouped by sets. If you already sent in your submission, you could try calling customer service once the package is in PCGS's system and ask them to put a note to group the coins by sets.
