Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
Since the requests for additional packs are diminshing significantly I guess we'll just do the 2 boxes and close this off at the 96 hour mark. If any packs are left available in box 2 at that point I will still do the break. The packs that are not requested will be the ones on the bottom of box 2.
Good afternoon all from spring-like New Zealand. It's currently November 1st here, 17 hours ahead of EDT in the USA.
Well it looks like we basically have 2 boxes fully spoken for. As per my original posting, I will be back home and ready to ship on November 8th. Payments may be sent via Paypal to dave531@aol.com when you are ready to make them. When making a payment, please post to this thread so that I can mark you off the list and keep track. Also, please add shipping details in the "message" section of the paypal payment so that I know where you want me to send your pack(s). Anyone with concerns about the short delay to Nov 8th in shipping is free to hold off payment until Sunday November 6th.
PLEASE COMPUTE YOUR SHIPPING, INSURANCE AND PAYPAL FEES (IF ANY) from the details provided below.
I am "on the grid" so you can PM me, email me, etc. with any questions or concerns.
Cheers
Dave
All, This is Dave Kleppel (70ToppsFanatic), and seeing as how many of us missed a bunch of the desireable 1970s items that were added to the BBCE website last night, I've offered to put up at least 2 wax boxes of 1975 Topps Minis (36 pack count) for a group pack rip. These are boxes from a case that was opened at BBCE and each box has been certified by Steve.
The only difference from the usual group rip is that I actually have these boxes in my posession, so payments will need to be made to me and I will have to do the shipping.
I am starting an overseas business trip tomorrow (the 26th) and returning Nov 8th. As a result I will start the "subscription" period for packs as planned, but payments will not be necessary before November 6th. That way shipments can be made within a few days of payment and no one will need to worry that there is a problem. First shipments will be made on November 8th.
As previously communicated, I am putting up at least TWO 1975 Topps Mini wax boxes. Depending on the number of people wanting packs the number of boxes available may go up. If the there is significant interest beyond the first two boxes at least 1 more box may be added.
For the first 48 Hours after this thread is listed you are limited to 2 packs. After 48 hours passes you can buy 2 more. After a full 96 hours has passed it is open game for anyone. All boxes must be fully "subscribed" before payment can be made and packs can be shipped. Any box that is only partially subscribed will not be broken, and any pack requests for that box will be cancelled. Please reply to this thread with your packs. Only pack requests posted in this thread will be considered valid so that the process is completely transparent to all.
Costs will be $36.25 per pack ($1450 minus 10% divided by 36) + USPS priority mail flat rate (so I can use the small flat rate boxes to better protect the packs instead of using a padded mailer) and insurance (optional but recommended) + Paypal fees of $1.50. Anyone can pay through paypal using account dave531@aol.com. Those marking their paypal payments "Personal/Gift", which eliminates paypal fees, can deduct the $1.50 handling fee.
Thus, two packs with insurance would cost:
Sent Paypal marked Personal/Gift - $80.00 (2 x $36.25 + $5.20 postage + $2.30 insurance) Sent regular Paypal - $81.50 (2 x $36.25 + $5.20 postage + $2.30 insurance + $1.50 paypal fees)
PAYMENTS SHOULD NOT BE MADE BEFORE I HAVE POSTED IN THIS THREAD THAT THE SUBSCRIPTION PERIOD HAS CLOSED. Once the subscription period is closed, payments are not required until November 6th. Please be sure and include your CU User Name and shipping details when paying. Also please post when you have paid and I will mark you off the list :
S/H and insurance rates are:
Small flat rate box: $5.20
If anyone has more packs than will fit in the small flat rate box, the medium flat rate box runs $10.95
The added insurance rates are exactly what www.usps.com has listed: Amount for Merchandise Insurance Coverage Desired Price1 $0.01 to $50 $1.80 $50.01 to $100 $2.30 $100.01 to $200 $2.85 $200.01 to $300 $4.75 $300.01 to $5,000 (maximum liability is $5,000) $4.75 plus $1.05 for each $100 or fraction thereof over $300
If you want to participate please post in this thread with how many packs you want and I will keep track.
For those who have never done a group rip, once the boxes are fully subscribed and the subscription period is declared to be "closed" payments will not be due until November 6th. First shipments will go out on November 8th (I will be shipping to you directly, so please include your shipping details and "FORUM NAME" with your payment).
Once the boxes are fully subscribed and you make your payment please post in this thread or send me a pm so that I can track the progress.
I opted out of paypal and sent a sack full of nickels and dimes.

My flight back to the USA is in 18 hours. Will be roughly a 24 hour trip, so shipping can start Tuesday the 8th if everything is on schedule. Please get any remaining payments in.

Thanks again, Dave, for all your efforts and work in organizing this! Those who haven't paid yet, please do so now. It's not fair to Dave to leave him hanging like that after reserving packs..

All of the people who made commitments have been in touch and have made arrangements. No issues at all. Besides, if anyone didn't take these packs I'd have some to open myself without having to break another box.
And as for work, this has been a labor of love. A bunch of people were very disappointed at missing Steve's last 1970s additions so it seemed like the right thing to do to break a few boxes so that more people got to enjoy some material from that era.
