MS 62 ? I'd think it grades higher if it doesn't get tagged for any underlying problems not seen in photos ...and the photos are good. You're undergrading this coin, in my opinion.

I'd give this a 63 all day, with an outside shot at 64.
Great pics. Looks MS62 or 63 depending on how vibrant the luster appears in hand.

From what I've seen of late, the quality of MS-62 graded coins has been increasing. Here's a case in point. Time was a coin like this would have made MS-63 quite easily. I don't know if this trend will continue.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
Looks closer to 63 than 62. I bought a bunch of MS62 eagles and half eagles awhile back, the fields are a little busier than this coin, the 62's are really super AU's in MS holders.

I suspect that gash on Liberties cheek looks worse in the photo than it does in hand.

I agree with the others on this ... I think you might be looking at it on the conservative side (not a bad thing at all!) ...
while it could be a 62 ... it appears to be a half to a point and a half better

But since the grading services have 62 on the brain for so many gold coins, it'd probably get a 62.
a 62 +
