    Ryan,

How is that centering on that Mini Haney?? That one is tough to get higher than an 8 from what I have seen.

From what I remember, it's got pretty good centering, but minor PD in the yellow area which is common for this card. I should have these back from PSA by the end of the week. I'll take a closer look then.

Very strong sub overall, tons of tough 8s along with a few tough 9 hits. Good eye.

Great sub! So what is up with the 407 Herb Washington? I need the hell out of that card - could take 5 years to get that card squared away in my collection

I've got a pretty nice Washington that I pulled from this box that I'll be subbing. Probably too OC to land in a 9, but is a solid 8.

Thanks Ryan, lmk when you put it up on the bay (if others need it) or give me a price and I'll gladly pay it. There are only 13 9s, but 3 of them will be destroyed soon (3 of my 5) - I saw one other short 9 by MajorYankeefan...so there are at most 9 9s out there. I ignored the 8s for a couple years and it snuck up on me

BTW to Tim who was hating on me for the 196 psa9 image - I just realized that I put in a snipe at 55.00 but 2 people outbid me at 77ish...so looks like this card will have action in the 9 range as many others

You're right, Henry, I have got tou mixed up with one of the other 500 cards you outbid everyone on, lol. Patience is my strong suit, though, so I will hold tight with my 8 till the right one pops up. image

I already do have a PSA 9 #407, though, that I pulled from a pack a few years ago. One of my favorite mini cards.

Anyone looking for some pack fresh, freshly graded minis~these are from a sub I just got back, which I got hammered on. I took out the 8-10 PSA 8 & PSA 9 cards I needed for my set, and am selling the rest~I would categorize these as high end for the grades, with most grading a full grade lower than expected. All cards were pulled straight from packs~no cut case cards here. Please feel free to PM me with any interest and for pricing. Will offer a nice price on the entire lot, too, with free priority mail shipping.

Just posted this in the mail forum as well. This was from the box that I ripped last month. Really pumped about these results! The Cliff Johnson 8 is a crackout of the one that originally graded a 7 that I subbed a couple of months back.

Lots of 9s, low pop 8s, and my second self submitted 10!

Bravo! Bunch of hits you didn't bold as well. Cecil Cooper is sneaky tough. Henry can chime in on how most of the 9s are short. Cey is tough, Harrison, more. Very nice eye.

140-Garvey, 195 MVP 1957, 600 Carew, 616 Rice, in 9's...... very nice! Several of those tough one's in 8 as well, 322 Goodson twice, 143 C. Johnson , 405 Montague, 564 Davis. Agree with Jim, that Cecil Cooper is not an easy one to find in 9. 34 PSA 9's are you kidding me? You picked up one nice box there Ryan image

Thanks fellas. Really enjoyed going through this box once I got back from my biz trip. These cards are just awesome! I uploaded images to my registry for all the ones that upgraded my set. Scans for a few are below.

Later this week I'll be putting a bunch of minis up on eBay including several tough 8s and some 9s (like Carew & Rice). I'll post here once they are live.

Here's the 57 MVP. I'm thinking about reviewing this card. Looks flawless to me. Thoughts?
    image

Here's Cecil. This one replaces an 8.5 that was in my set. That one will be going to auction.
    image

Super tough red yellow. Pop 4... I wonder how many are full sized like this one?
    image

Love this Garvey. Super tough card to find in 9. Usually OC t/b.
    image

Here's the Cliff Johnson that I didn't feel got a fair shake the first time through. Cracked out and came back an 8.
    image

And finally, my 2nd self submitted PSA 10. Now a pop 3.

Sharp cards, Ryan! I recall saying I thought the Johnson should bump to a PSA 8, and I'm glad you cracked and resubmitted it~I like it better than the PSA 9 McEnaney, actually.

Sorry, I have been prepping for the coming economic Apocalypse this September.
Great job Ryan, I am sorry but I will NEVER believe you got all that from ONE waxbox after all my disasters lol.
Very nice job on that C. Johnson - extremely hard card! I think I'd pay 150.00 plus for any strong 8 and that is among the strongest I have seen.
As usual, Jim has the keen eye regarding gems. The Cooper is nice but not a centered 9. I believe there are only at most 8 legit 9s of that card. 2 known shorts and one short soon to be destroyed.
If my memory serves me correctly, the last centered 9 was battled over by MM and I (as usual) - I believe I got him on that one but it cost me dearly...if my memory serves me correct I might have paid either 190 plus or 280 plus.
    I also 2nd Stingray - beautiful Ellis!

Thanks guys. Things are pretty intense with this group of collectors. All part of the fun though!

@Tim - I 100% agree with you that the Johnson looks better than the McEnaney both in centering and color. Cliff just pops! I might try to review this one at some point. It's that nice.

@Henry - believe it or not, these all (minus the Cliff Johnson) came from the same box that I picked up on the BST forums. I've opened a couple of boxes and tons of individual packs over the last year+ and I've seen the junk that you can hit where only 10 or 20 cards are even worth getting graded in an entire box. I've gotten lucky in that I've hit two of these "super boxes" where about 50% of the cards are 8s or better.

Hey Dan, well uh, ummm...what happened was I was deleting a bunch of 1970s sets - I completed the Megaset for all 1970-79. I had a deal with God to prepare for the coming collapse. I then mistakenly nuked/deleted everything and haven't gotten around to re-entering my minis. I believe my 1st set is around 9.40 (every card fills the holder), and my 2nd set is 9.05ish (not sure)...I have another around 8.92+ and then it steadily goes down from there image

I had a deal with God to prepare for the coming collapse.

I thought it was a deal with God to find a missing 68 Topps set?? LOL..

Henry, if you do get around to adding those sets again, please scan and upload pics, if you can~would be great to see the cards in each of the sets. It does take time, but for me sharing the collection is part of the fun!

I have a smaller sub at PSA now which includes a number of the cards I need to finally finish my set~it's taken 8 long years, but I've made an effort to maintain as high a percentage as possible of pack pulled self-submitted cards. Looking forward to uploading the album when I'm done!

I have a smaller sub at PSA now which includes a number of the cards I need to finally finish my set~it's taken 8 long years, but I've made an effort to maintain as high a percentage as possible of pack pulled self-submitted cards. Looking forward to uploading the album when I'm done! >>

Good memory Tim, on a US excursion my idiot Uncle had my cards all over the place. I couldn't find 1/3 of my 1967 set...after 2 days of searching I told God if he can help me find those cards I wouldn't buy any more for a year - 2 minutes later I walked back to the 2nd stuffed room of cards and the missing box just stood out to me among 50 others! I probably checked that area 7 times.
Later the following spring, by my calculations I saw the dollar collapsing soon - so I made another deal to sell off my collection but keep my beloved minis for now image
Ryan, sorry bro I will refuse to believe you got all that from one box to my grave - lol - otherwise, I will stab myself with a dull fork repeatedly after bombing out on over 20 plus waxboxes!

I've been sitting at around 25% on the mini set which is populated by mostly my own submissions. I just won this mini set to get me a little further. I overpaid for it but oh well. There's about $1300 in VCP value with the graded cards so if I can find some additional 9s or low pops that haven't already been graded amongst the raw cards, it won't turn out to be a bad deal.

Those are some nice examples Ryan!

I purchased my near perfect PSA 9 75 Mini example of Cecil Cooper way back for the currently unheard price of $47 image

    Hey John!
Welcome to the mini forum. I totally forgot about that set! I was gonna bid on it. The #99 Hegan is beautiful and makes the set (I believe there are at most 6 legit 9s with no 9s auctioned since 2012) - btw I wouldn't put too much stock in VCP because prices for minis are all over the place depending on whether the card is full or not or who is paying attention when - there are several very tough 8s in that set as well (#51, #33, cueller etc).
I put in bids for a couple PSA 10 minis I needed but I lost out on both (the auction ended while I was teaching unfortunately and I was outbid).

EDIT: I just checked the set and saw the #63 Swisher PSA 9, it is a green/green which has a higher likelihood of being cut (for some reason a large number of these color combos were brutalized in a few large submissions) - I knew I had noted this card before so I checked my excel...here is the scoop - only 2-3 9s have been graded over the past 4 years. Of the 21 pop I have at least 5 known cut cards so that pop is probably around 13-15 maximum. That card looks nice as well. Also, the 358 Bumbry psa 9 is on my sleeper list...probably only 12 or so legit 9s and not that many 8s. A 9 hasn't come up for auction since December 2012 I believe...now I'm getting a bit pissed I forgot that set image

The Hegan might be one of the few centered 9s I have seen.

I am new to this thread but was just wondering if the minis were produce in a much lower quantity, why is there only mini wax boxes for sale and no regular size for sale. Are the regular size cards or the related wax boxes worth more than the minis? Thank you for everyone's expertise.

Two reasons why mini boxes are more plentiful than regular sized 75s. One is that they were a test issue and as such were saved more so than their regular sized counterparts. And two, which is the primary reason, Charlie Conlon, who had the foresight to buy out pallets of mini cases from Topps back in 1975. Upon his death several years ago, his estate sold all of the remaining cases through REA in large lots which also accounted for lots of product coming to market, too.

However, the value of high grade mini cards (in most cases) is stronger than their regular sized counterparts, especially with Henry bidding, lol..

A regular sized 75 wax box, though, will command more than three times the value of a mini 75 wax box. They are very tough to find.

Henry, don't fret, if the economic apocalypse arrives, no amount of beans or bullets is going to save you unless you bury yourself underground in a vault, lol..and even then, you will likely go mad before you work through your supply!

Thanks for your inputs Henry. If PSA is doing a good job of rejecting shorties in recent months, I should be okay being that all the graded cards were submitted by ML. That also tells me they probably already slabbed the best the set has to offer. Hopefully a few sleepers remain.

One of the things I have always loved about minis is "the best the set had to offer" is very different in the eyes of a non mini collector. They will almost always look to the stars and if they are savvy, to high grade commons. You almost never see a non mini collector or dealer digger to the level of looking for a PSA 8 Ross Grimsley, etc.. The fact that they were able to grade a bunch well bodes well for your treasure hunting. I'd feel ok in your shoes.

While I'm doing my part to help fellow mini collectors, I've been struggling to find 8s or 9s in a few cards to upgrade the 7s in my set. If any of you have the following that you'd be willing to sell to me in 8 or higher please PM me.

Specifically I'm looking for #56 Rick Wise, #133 Dan Driessen, #232 Diego Segui, #245 Mickey Lolich, #459 AL Champ, and #562 Gary Nolan

    Thanks,
    Ryan

Wish me luck gentlemen; I have entered my digital 75 mini album (Tony’s 75 Minis) into the 2015 PSA Set Registry Awards competition. "Best Digital Card Album" is a new category this year. I am sure one of the big guns will take it down (i.e., 52 Topps Master set, etc.), but I figured it would be good exposure for 75 minis. A little "representation" if you will.

    Ryan,
Nice hit on some of your sales tonight. Is that typical for a Carew 9?

    Thanks,

Thanks David. I believe that was a record for a Carew!

Very pleased with where several of the big ones ended up. Was surprised some of the tougher green/yellow and red/yellow card didn't go for more. Some folks ended up getting a great deal! Thanks again to everyone from the forums that participated.

Well that totally sucked, sorry Ryan! I just came home and apparently over 90% of my snipes did not go through image What the hell, my snipe program totally bailed on me.

Carew is one of the toughest HOF's in the set and this one is really nice and fills the holder. Thanks Ryan!
