Beautiful LaFleur. I should know. I owned it for years. It's gone up in value quite a but since I shelled out $500 for it about 10 years ago. Congrats on the great pickup.

I love these box bottoms! Question: Has PSA changed the way they grade the box bottoms? When I used to send stuff in they always said it had to have the cut lines present? I am pretty sure 87 didn't have them but they did in 85...
PSA is getting much tougher on Box Bottoms. I just received a bunch of 6's and A's in my last few submissions They're getting much tougher on the box folds, dropping everything to a 6 even with the slightest hint of a fold.
Yes, continue to cut these a little oversized. 85's should have some black showing. But both of my Lemieux's only have black showing on the right border, and nowhere else.
Here are my Robitaille and Gretzky from my set (Centered-Ice). There are no borders on the 87's, but these were cut a little oversized. All of them came back 9 or 10, with no A's thank God. It is much safer to over-cut them just a bit.
I have the 6-5 Stanley Cup tape where Mike Keenan pulls Belfour in the first period of the game against Pittsburgh, and puts in the rookie Hasek. Lemieux has two breakaways and Hasek beats him twice. Pittsburgh beat Chicago 6-5 in this game. I think the previous game was 1-0. Great series, and Dominik was the best player in the league during his great run.

This is a card I didn't ever think I'd own. Only seven ever graded by PSA and only two PSA 8's with none higher. This is one of the toughest cards of one of the big three Habs legends I collect. Maybe next week I'll find a Maurice Richard quaker with my current luck. Off to PSA registry customer service to add this to the Henri Richard master set.
Nathanael, great job on the Henri Richard. Glad it found a good home.
Mathew, I thought you had a Dryden already or is my memory going in my old age? Is it an upgrade? Either way, congrats. It looks really nice. I personally like 7's and 8's as they present really well and don't totally break the bank.

Beautiful Perreault! That card in an 8 is currently my white whale.

I finally pulled the trigger on this. I've wanted one for a while and it was starting to get pricey (at about $75) when I started pursuing it about three years ago. Well, it took $175 but at least I know it's real.
Quite easily the greatest American hockey coach ever. Any others before him or after him will constantly finish a distant second. Anything 1980's USA Hockey is beautiful.
I am confused about the Gilbert Perrault rookie card. I do not understand why more have yet to surface. Anyone who followed a certain auction house over the years, and some of the west coast practices of some card sellers will understand where I'm coming from. But for some reason that card has alluded us in high grade.
When I saw that card for sale on the other board, I noticed the beautiful wax pack cut. So I am convinced that came from a card store in Canada over fourty years ago, and has endured the test of time.
For $31.50, should I throw it back? Although it looks like a 7, there is a small wrinkle (2nd photo) starting at the bottom of the stick blade that is semi circular starting from the edge and going up about half-way between the edge and the "border" for a little less than a half inch (the faint dark line). It was listed as EX but would that wrinkle make it an automatic 4? I am upgrading my set, which is about 50% graded and 50% ungraded. Aside from self submissions, I typically wait for 8's in my wheelhouse (fairly rare but I have gotten lucky a few times. I don't mind surface wrinkles so much as I have a 4 Worsley and a raw Sawchuk that look like 8's otherwise and are only noticeble under very close inspection (from Rosen in the early 90's, also a Lindsey which did grade at 7.5).
Cannot post a pic of card because this one just popped on my my 6 card sub. Out of the 6 cards graded, only 1 got the grade expected the other 4 cards were 1 grade below expected and this card was a half grade higher then what i was hoping for. The other cards are not worth mentioning but this one is.

This is the second OPC Gretzky rookie i have got a PSA 9 on that i have submitted.
I paid 600.00 for it at a card show in Windsor, Ontario. Would have been happy with a PSA 8 was hoping for a PSA 8.5 and pulled a PSA 9 Hopefully i do well with the other 100+ cards i sent in for this set. Hoping for alot of 9's and some 10's which i pulled from about 5,000 cards i had laying around. This card had the OPC rough cut but no chipping along the edges etc... Centering left right was basically dead on and about 60/40 top to bottom. Depending how well my other cards do i have to decide to keep the set and continue building this set or sell it. This is going to be a tough one for me as Gretzky was my idol. My wife was one of those people who used to poke his eye's out. For me i used to trade 30-50 cards for his card back in the day. Cheers, Steve
I subbed a few of them. Some had that printers line going up the card so i think i ended up subbing 3 or 4 of them in hopes of a 10. Pulled only the best cards out of about 30 of them. Made sure centering corners etc.. were basically perfect. Already sold the rest of the cards from that collection to one person. Out of 25,000 cards i pulled about 1200+ cards. 600+ for grading and the others went into my personal collection. Majority of my collection is not graded. One because of cost. Two because i don't need anybody telling me my cards are mint when i know they already are. Three because certain sets i will never sell. Four because it takes up to much room if i had every card graded. I built a few sets on the PSA registry just for fun but i found myself getting to involved with the sets and not paying more attention to what i really enjoy. Will i build another set for the PSA registry? Maybe. But i don't want to get so involved with the set trying to get the #1 set. Luckily most cards i did for the registry i subbed myself others i regret buying because it took money away from other parts of my collecting. Didn't lose money if you balance the sets out when i sold them but i do this collecting for fun and want to keep it that way. Cheers, Steve

You'll find those SP's some day. They're out there.
Mathew, sweet cards, especially the Dryden. That is one beautiful 7.
Keep 'em coming...
That Richard is amazing! Congrats on the pickup. Do you want me to hold on to that one to keep it safe
