What's that got to do with anything? With group rips, the originator never handles the packs. It's always direct ship from BBCE. >>

I was around when Gary did the group rips, and I was around when Bill did the group rips. Every one Bill did was direct ship. I realize this has nothing to do with the ebay discussion, but let's not start making crap up.

Every group rip I have been part of has been distributed by BBCE. No matter who the organizer was (me in some cases). Some have tried to set up rip a group rip from their own inventory (not Bill) and I have stayed away from those, not sure if they ever went through.

i think you nailed it storm..

    >>>....................

If he was selling the coins "not in hand," he could have gotten trapped
    on the price runup.

It happens, but most good sellers either eat the loss OR quickly refund
    the buyers' payments.

    .................................

he was never the most humble guy, and probably got nailed trying to time/outsmart the bubble's pop. funny thing is, he could probably buy everything now to make good on the deals without being out any money (but really pissing off everyone he sold to). either way, i hope that he straightens it out and gets back on track.

wasn't making crap up, just stating a fact that not all group rips were direct ships from BBCE , I have never participated in any of the group rips. Someone asked the question about group rips always being a direct ship from BBCE , which they were not. I was just answering their question not pointing a finger or accusing Bill of any hanky panky, now Gary (scumbag) on the other hand is what caused every group rip to be direct ships from BBCE. Not making crap up here.

What ever problems Bill has , I hope he fixes the problems. I also hope that everyone involved gets their money back.
Selling short or doing pre sells have gotten a lot of good people in trouble over the years, and as one old guy told me one time:
"You are only as good as your last deal" or "if it sounds to good to be true it probably is".

Whatever happened to Bill is only speculation until Bill or one Bill's buyers comes forward and states some facts. jmho

Message from the guy who sent LSU a $2400 bank check. I asked him whether he ever received a refund.

Hi, no he beat me. EBay won't even make good on the rip off since I didn't use PayPal. I have already filed a police report,
contacted an attorney...but the $ is probably lost. I have his address, etc but he is probably a dead beat who was planning
it. Thanks for the help. Allan

but he OUTPOSTED ME something fierce and i guess high post count gives you respect? it shouldnt

hope the local authorities go after him now, he is a bigtime thief, not a petty card searcher (like he did to any packs he got his hands on during group subs)

Bill was a scumbag while he was here, and has proven himself to be a theif now. I can only hope he is led away from his family in cuffs after what he has done. Couldnt even trust the guy to do the right thing over $30 donated to charity. Thats the type of person he is.

reminds me of those super bowl commercials...

TV Reporter: "Bill you just walked away with $20,000 from ebay. What are you going to do with all that money?"

Bill: "I'm going to Disney World!"

Nobody is flipping you off because you made details of what you call Bill's scam public here, they're flipping you off because you're an obnoxious prik.

I don't think anyone has taken up to defend Bill, so your overly exuberant self-congratulatory comeuppance is frankly a bit annoying to most.

It must be difficult to type when you're so busy patting yourself on your back. Something tells me you have a lot of experience typing with one hand, though.
  • gumbyfangumbyfan Posts: 5,168 ✭✭✭
And here's where someone chimes in and says I'm defending Bill when in reality, that's not the case. Just want to get far ahead of that accusation.

    BACK ON TOPIC

I do not like the ebay listings that say "Pick xxxxx"/"finish your set" etc etc. It is borderline in violation of ebay terms, but it doesnt matter. What I hate is when I am looking for cards and I see dozens of these "pick em" type listings, not to mention all these free listings where people list garbage for 99 cents.

Yeah, the buyer is pretty much a DB. I would ask him which card he wanted, agree to cancel the transaction first, then tell him you will send it to him free of charge. Then find a nice papers shredder and send it to him in 40 strips. No money, but the satisfaction would be worth more than the cash reward
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

You know you can filter out key words when doing an ebay search, right? So if an auction says "Pick" in the title, you can filter it out by typing "-pick" in the search area. Some people actually enjoy and appreciate the pick'em auctions. In fact, if sellers use of those pick'em auctions, that would help eliminate the other type of auctions you hate (the $0.99 garbage auctions). Just trying to help.

Is it possible Bill let someone else use his account? I don't remember him ever involved with coins.

However, his behavoir the last year on various boards and him holding peoples cards for revenge tells me its most likely him just further going down a bad path.

The problem with those auctions is that you could have people bidding against each other for totally different things (and maybe this is why I thought ebay didn't like them but they are every where it seems).

but with only 1 auction winner, it doesn't matter what cards the underbidders were after. Then the seller can subtract the cards the first guy wanted and relist. I don't sell that way myself, but I've bought a few that way.

This is why you do a "u pick" Buy it Now and write "READ the listing, you are buying one of the following cards", evidently too tough for ebayers, and some board members to understand.

Ebay must have caught on because you can't view any of the completed auctions. They all say:

This listing (190512767471) has been removed, or this item is not available.

•Please check that you've entered the correct item number
•Listings that have ended 90 or more days ago will not be available for viewing.

It also say he is not a registered user.
