One for your blocked bidder list

I listed of of the "u pick" type listings, probably asking for issues.

"I saw the lincecum(16) picture and assumed he was one of the listed for buy it now.since he is not i do not wish to purchase a common for 3.99 if you hold me to the purchase the only one i need listed is 52 but i will accuse you of bait and switch with the pictured stars in the listing in the comment section of the feedback and leave negative ratings. Its up to you how you want to proceed."

I see no problem whatsoever with Gecko pointing this out to us.

Mass had one of the auctions that pretty much states in it "You are bidding on your choice of X/Y/Z from this list of cards", the guy bought it thinking he was getting every star pictured or something like that and then pretty much said I am gonna accuse you of picturing something completely different than what I will be receiving.

I agree very sad. It appears to me that Bill could be clearing out his PP account after each payment before any of the refunds have been granted? If that is what he is doing? He made off with $20236.97 minus the PP fees.

    Wow indeed.

Checking his feedback on recent card stuff, it's all low-dollar. Silver has been (until this week) a super-hot commodity. So he could have built up his recent feedback with tons of good feedback on low-dollar sales, then pull the big one with a hot popular product.

    That can't end well.

Last year he posted pics and made comments that got him booted off two boards, almost at the same time.
He was likely trying to get booted, and it may have been tied to other issues he was having.
Or maybe he just got tired of the message boards and that was a way to force himself to quit.

There's a big difference between being someone who stirs the pot on message boards and what he's apparently doing now on Ebay.
Looks like he's headed for major trouble. Too bad, especially considering he just had a new baby.

I'm not here to defend Bill, because as far as I'm concerned now I wouldn't trust him given his ebay history...

but you do realize that the card was destroyed, right?
    Chamberlain destruction

You can probably let that $30 go, it did go to Charity right?

Bill ran a group sub a couple of years back. I sent several hundred dollars worth of cards for Bill to sub, along with a number of other folks. I got my cards back quickly, and I believe everyone else did as well. I don't know Bill personally, but it seems to me that he had several thousand dollars worth of forum user cards in his possession at that time, and if he was dishonest he had the opportunity to rip us off. He did not.

Didn't Bill run a group sub just before he was booted from the two boards? Did the cards on his group sub over @ CBT ever get returned to their owners?

I believe everyone finally got their cards back, including myself. Looks like Bill is having hard financial times and decided to steal unless his account was hacked, which I doubt because he would have noticed before it went that far.

What's that got to do with anything? With group rips, the originator never handles the packs. It's always direct ship from BBCE.

in the old days it was the originator that handled the packs as it was not always a direct ship from BBCE, that is until some scum bag searched the packs before sending them out, Now everything is shipped directly from BBCE.

I am not going to defend the feedback i just read on Ebay. That sounds terrible.

But....as a board member here, Bill was a frequent and interesting poster. He knew cards and made meaningful posts. He shared a great thread with tons of pics when he took his son cross country to go pick up a Uhaul trailer full of junk wax etc. He was a fun guy on the boards. He was also very opinionated, which offended some people here. I bought cards from Bill on 3 occasions over the course of 2 years and he always sent me quality material. I hope that there is a rationale explanation for the Ebay - Silver thing that doesn't involve Bill ripping someone off. That would be sad...

The issue I have with the feedback is the cards that were sold were delivered. It seems he ran into some issue where he needed some money fairly quickly and was having some type of moral battle within. He somehow changed, didn't deliver the first coin and couldn't stop. The fact he delivered the cards tells me there was still some good left in him, even though they were cheap. Too bad he turned and ripped those people off. At first I thought his eBay account could have been hijacked but the card sales eliminate that theory.
  • corvette1340corvette1340 Posts: 3,384 ✭✭✭
damn, I'm glad he didn't decide to turn rogue during that group sub. Some pieces of $#$@ will do anything when their chips are down. We were always friendly with each other except when he would get drunk and call me douche much like he did everyone else when he decided to get on the sauce. I may be a coky <----mispelled because I had too, arrogant, ass when it comes to some things, but at least I'm an honest one.
  • storm888storm888 Posts: 11,701 ✭✭✭

A few of the card sales ended after some of the coin sales ended.

Thus, as noted above, it appears that the account was not jacked.

    ....................

If he was selling the coins "not in hand," he could have gotten trapped
    on the price runup.

It happens, but most good sellers either eat the loss OR quickly refund
    the buyers' payments.

    .................................

    Possible Lesson:

Do NOT send large-money, non-recourse checks/MOs to unknown sellers.

MANY Americans are in "difficult" financial times, AND "trust" needs to be
    granted sparingly.

Several of the BIN's were multiple item listings. A quick terapeak search shows that he sold $20,000 worth of those American Silver Eagle 20 coin rolls with none of the buyers leaving positive feedback.

Beats the heck out of me why the account hasn't been naru'd.
  • Never, ever, a dull moment around here.

I am also very glad that he did not have the inclination to do this kind of thing back when he was running the big group sub.

I don't know Bill other than from his CU posts, but just taking a reasonable guess...he has developed a gambling problem...a bad gambling problem.

There are a lot of casinos in Louisiana and of course online gambling is readily available as well...and there are plenty of local bookies in almost any town to make a sports bet...he could owe them money, and these type of people are not who you want to owe money to.

Another guess is that this ebay money could be already gone - gambled away somehow.

If Bill is reading the thread...I hope he is aware of the criminal possiblities involved here...and that's not all...no matter what he does with the money, even if he gambles it away, the IRS will come after him to pay taxes on this money, plus penalties and interest. The IRS doesn't care how ya made your money, or how ya squander it, the taxes are still due on it. If anyone serves jail time for theft, that doesn't end it as far as the IRS is concerned...after getting out of prison, one of the first visitors they'll receive is an IRS agent who will levy and sell their assets, or garnish a steep percentage of future earnings.

I would advise Bill if it's not too late, to immediately return as much or all of the money as possible, and do it now.
