Silver Proof sets now on hold by the US Mint

RWWRWW Posts: 239 ✭✭✭
I went out to check the Mint's web site to see what they're doing for prices on silver proof sets given the run-up on silver.

Silver sets are now listed as 'temporarily unavailable'...

I didn't know they had done that.
My timing was pretty good as I just bought several more sets on Friday (4/15) and forgot to return until today to see what was happening with prices.

...and on the very same day that I get the Mint's spring catalog in the mail with the silver proof sets listed for sale.

I was thinking about buying a 2011 ATB Proof Silver Quarter set last weekend too, but have been dealing with a cold and fever for several days so put it off. Now I heard that those have been removed from their availability list also, and will be more expensive when they re-offer them in a few weeks! He who hesitates, loses! image

Wonder if they'd do this if silver price were falling instead of rising...

If they did, for some odd reason I feel that their response time in lowering the price would pale in comparison with their raising it.

LOL, I still have a load of sets bought before the first shutdown at $32.95. Wonder if 10-set guy on ebay is rethinking his lowball pricing now.

BTW only the 2010 Silver proof sets ( coin + quarter) are being repriced. 2011 are still up, but for how long?
