Watching this series makes me appreciate the value of consistent, good pitching that much more.

Game 7 it is. I've got the play tomorrow night, so win or lose, I'll be in either very late Friday night or Saturday morning, to either gloat, or to offer congratulations to my Cardinals friends on the board.
As Wash says, "That's the way baseball go!"
So long for now, gotta get some sleep.
Go Rangers! You haven't lost two games in a row since August. No reason to start now.
<< <i>It will be hard for Texas to be really mentally prepared for game 7. >>
Having watched the team all year, once they wake up tomorrow, it will be whole new day. It's cliche'ish I know, but they really are great at putting the prior game behind them and not letting it affect their performance in the next one. I sometimes get quite irritated with them cause at times I don't think their players take the game seriously enough, but that's one of the reasons they bounce back so well.
They'll get it done. As a wise man once said, "If they do, they do, and if they don't, they don't". LOL,, goodnight everyone
<< <i>Interesting that the St. Louis fans haven't popped in recently but I bet if they come back and win, that they'll be here in full force. >>
I was too busy watching the game. I don't have a laptop. My PC is in the other room. Yes, I would have came on here to congratulate you on the win. I was ready to do so when David Freese broke your heart!
Having trouble getting to sleep (hhmmm, I wonder why) so I'm back. The one nice thing about this World Series, is that I'm not holding a 25-1 gaming ticket on the Rangers like I was last year. This year, I was lucky enough to only bet on them to win the ALCS (I thought they'd have trouble with LOL, the Phillies) . So I've already sent this years ticket off to Vegas to redeem. So rather than thinking about money during this Series like last year, now I just get to enjoy it for the pure love of the game. That's a lot easier to do when regardless if they win or lose, I've got a nice check coming from Vegas
Every time I think baseball gets tedious it's games like tonight that tell me otherwise. Great game tonight, perhaps not so much for the folks in Texas.

Just South of Dallas, and I concur with you, great game. Lot of fun to watch the last few innings. I've had about forty years of the Rangers letting me down, so quite frankly, I'm kinda used to it by now. I'm the type of fan that the ownership group loves. Cause even if they F this up, I'll be back buying tickets next year and fully believing that it will be THE year.
I'm the dumba-- though that is convinced that the Rangers are going to win game 7. I used to think I was a smart guy, but there are times like tonight, that I truly wonder, LOL.
Every day is a new day in baseball. Even after Yaz epic home run for the Red Sox in Game 6, the Big Red Machine came back to win Game 7, so you never know.

What heart both teams have. I think they are closely matched. Hamilton is very injured. He can be a game stopper just like his HR last night. But Albert is swinging at high and away. He routinely has been flying out to the right side on these pitches. He needs more discipline. Not like he doesn't scare the crap out of ya like the 3 HR game. Just an observation....niot like the best hitter in BB needs any advice...especially when McGwire is there.
I will remember this game for a long time. Glad 2 c Berkman having a great series.
Game 7 vs Carpenter I think the rangers have trouble.

Regardless of what happens tonight, getting to game 7 of the World Series is pretty darned impressive. My favorite year as a Cards fan was '87 when they lost the series to the Twins. I enjoyed that season a lot more than 2006.
Anything can happen in a 7 game series, let alone a single game. Whoever wins, the media will make it out like they were THE team, but truthfully if you could play game seven over repeatedly it would probably be about an even split.
Against any other team, I'd be pulling for the Rangers. As a Cowboys fan, I empathize with Rangers fans lol. Plus I see/hear their team news all the time.
Cruz out for tonights game? Ron Washington has made lots of great moves this year, but he made all the wrong moves lastnight. Should not have had Cruz out there in the late innings with a lead, played his outfield to deep when Berkman was up, Beltre should not have charged the ball so hard on the bunt play, he was almost in the batters lap!
and that look on Nolans face when the cards tied it up TWICE in the late innings was priceless!!!
The only thing I would second guess Washington on for last night's game was that if Feldman was his best remaining pitcher after Feliz, he should have brought him in for the beginning of the 10th to close out the game rather than bringing him in when 2 runners were already on base. If you were going to bring him in anyway when things got tough, do it at the beginning of the inning.

My biggest 2nd guess would be not pinch hitting in the 5th (IIRC) with the bases loaded. He only got a little bit more out of Lewis anyway, and Holland appeared to be ready.

so you wouldn't second guess Washington's decision to leave Holland in to face Allen Craig...he of a nearly .300 OPS bump against lefties when Mike Adams was already warming up in the pen? The Mike Adams who is death on righties holding them to .143/.171/.268. Or Washington's decision to let Lewis hit for himself with the bases loaded, a fresh bullpen, and two lefties on the bench with Mitch Moreland and Endy Chavez with Salas on the bump. Oh and let's not forget Washington pinch hit for a hitter in Gentry in the same inning, but not for a pitcher. So not only did he fail with that call, but he also weakened his defense by ripping Gentry from the game with a lead. Also up for ill-advised consideration was intentionally putting the winning run on base with the pass to Pujols to face a lefty in Berkman who was a better hitter than Pujols vs righties all season long
PuJols: .300/.372/.525. Berkman: .307/.427/.571.
as well as leaving a clearly gassed Ogando in to walk 3 hitters. So either Washington is a dead-set "by the gut" type of manager, or he's completely incompetent in regard to the National League style of baseball. One things i"m sure of is he's made way too many mistakes in this series to even rank as a mid-tier tactical manager.

I love Wash to death for the way he has this team pulling on the same oar every day, but I can't argue with one single word you wrote. Last night was a HORRIBLE managing job by him, right down to using Mark Lowe as his high-leverage pitcher when he has all of 1 mopup inning in the last month.

I don't follow the American League all that closely, but I have to agree with some of the comments about Washington based on an event last night. He intentionally walked Pujols in the bottom of the 10th, leading by a run, to put the winning run on base? That alone is not a smart decision with a hot hitter right behind Pujols, and the decision is actually terrible and here's why. Why not pitch him tight but definitely go for it and try to get the last out. With his potential free agency coming up and his opportunity to make a big splash, I think Pujols in that situation would have been free swinging. If he hits one out, then he hits one out, but to me Washington played that situation not to lose rather than play to win. You have to play to win, otherwise you usually don't win. I think Washington blew an excellent opportunity to strikeout Pujols or perhaps he hits a weak ground out or fly ball, and the Rangers win the World Series right there - you simply have to go for the win in that situation and Washington did not.

but Washington must be the worst manager when it comes to using his bench. he was outclassed last year, in the All-Star game and last night.
