Come on Red Sox, take care of business and stop choking. If y'all lose the wildcard to LAA, then the Rangers will have to play Detroit and Verlander in the first round. I much prefer to see the Rangers play y'all or the Yankees.
<< <i>Anaheim currently losing to A's 1-0, but I kinda hope they comeback as I have tix tomorrow and selfishly want to see the Rangers clinch in person with me and my whole family there. >>
LAA is down to their final three outs. I've changed my mind, LOL. Come on A's, get it done!!!! A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush (or something like that). Go A's Go!!!!
Can't believe I am actually rooting for the A's, insurance run just added by Dejesus. Looks like the might get to party at the ballpark tonight, I think there are alot of fans staying around watching the game on the diamond vision.
Congrats Mike ... I too would rather see the Yankees play against you guys in the first round. They could use an EZ first round! HAHAHAHAHA (If they do play against each other the first round, we have to find some autographed card(s) to put up for a little "wager".)

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
With only 2 of the regulars starting, the Rangers B team blasted Queen Felix today. Hernandez gave up 12 hits and 7 runs in 3 1/3 innings, and he was literally knocked out of the game by Michael Young as he couldn't handle a ball that Young hit back at him and he left the game with a forearm contusion.
Rangers ended up with the victory, and are temporarily a 1/2 game ahead of the Detroit Tigers for the #2 seed in the playoff tournament.
Manager Ron Washington has been saying for the last couple of weeks that if it was a choice of one or the other, than he'd rather have the regulars rested for the playoffs, rather than home field advantage, so I've got a feeling that means the B team will be playing more than usual.
Come on Orioles, get it done against Verlander tonight.
The Orioles got it done. They beat Detroit on a suicide squeeze bunt
Rangers now have a 1 game lead for the #2 seed, and if the season ended today, they'd be hosting the Boston Red Sox in Arlington later in the week. Sure would be nice to have the home field advantage, and much better than playing the Yankees in NY or the Tigers in Detroit.
Rangers complete the sweep of the Mariners today. Once again, the bulk of the starters sat on the bench, but the B team got it done again. Detroit won as well earlier in the day, but the magic number to clinch home field advantage for the ALDS is down to 3, so the Rangers still control their own fate going into the regular season ending series with LAA.
Rangers fans set an all time attendance record for the franchise today, despite a BRUTAL summer of Texas heat. Kudos to us!!!!! , Rangers have their all time franchise best record at home as well. Very nice regular season at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Rangers have the 2nd best record in September (Detroit is 1/2 game better, but still behind us one game for home field)
GO INDIANS!!! Get it done the next 3 games against Detroit!! Rangers have a tough series with LAA, as they are still holding on to their slim playoff hopes. Sure would be nice to bounce them from playoff contention on their own field.
Rangers were back to playing the regulars in their lineup tonight, and they officially eliminated the Angels from playoff contention. If I counted correctly, 6 Rangers pitchers teamed up to get the job done with Feliz closing it out in the 9th by overpowering Howie Kendrick.
Detroit opened up a severe can of butt kicking in their game, and they stay one game behind Texas for home field advantage in the ALDS and a date with either Boston or Tampa Bay.
Rangers magic number down to 2 to win that home field advantage. They still control their own destiny in that race for home field.
Rangers took care of business against LAA's "B" team tonight. Their manager set down several of his usual starters and set Ervin Santana after their elimination last night. Texas did what they could and took advantage of LAA's generosity. At one point, the Rangers hit back to back to back home runs. Unfortunately, Detroit once again had their way with Cleveland, so the Rangers only shaved 1 off of their magic number to clinch home field in the ALDS.
Now down to 1. If either the Rangers win tomorrow, or Detroit loses, then the Rangers will host Game 1 of the ALDS on Friday in Arlington at about 4:07 PM against the survivor of Boston/Tampa Bay.
If both the Rangers lose tomorrow, and Detroit wins, then the Rangers will be headed to Yankee Stadium and a Friday night Game 1.
Absolute battle that Texas and Detroit have had in September. It's fitting that it goes down to the last day. It's been fun to watch and has kept the season interesting these past couple of weeks. It's been nice to see Texas step up its play during September, and might result in them getting to host a playoff series.
Angels were scheduled to have Weaver pitching for them tomorrow, will be interesting to see if they go with a lesser quality arm instead like they did today in sitting Santana.
Rangers also have a chance tomorrow to earn their all time best record. Never before have they won more than 95 in a season, and they'll get to 96 if they manage to win. I know that's not a lot for you Yankee and Red Sox fans, but we don't have much of a storied baseball history down here like y'all do. Would be awesome to see them set that mark.
In case anyone was wondering, Cleveland sucks! 3 games against Detroit, and a 3 run lead tonight, and they couldn't get it done.
Rangers tied with LAA 1 to 1 right now in bottom of 7th. If Rangers win, they host ALDS, if they lose, they travel to New York to play the Yankees and the Tigers host an ALDS series. Pretty simple equation now.
What a season. Rangers finish with their best record ever. Mike Napoli hit a two run blast to win it in the 9th and the Rangers claim home field advantage for the ALDS.
Red Sox/Rays, come on down! Go Rangers! Congrats to the defending American League Champions!
What a great, exciting night for the sport. Congrats to the Tampa Bay Rays. See y'all in a couple days in Arlington. Absolutely colossal choke job by the Red Sox. As a fan, I"m sure not looking forward to facing Shields, he's owned the Rangers this month.
Good luck Rays, I hope it's a great ALDS series that provides as much entertainment as last years did.
unlike some fans I can always find a positive. At least if they keep this up and get bounced early from the playoffs then ill get back over $1000 in ticket money

Doug, Yeah, I forgot about my extra tickets, now I get back $1500 if they get bounced early, LOL. Oh yes, Maven can spend it quickly. I've got a rule that when we go to a game, whether our team wins or loses, we ALWAYS have fun. We made a day of it. I took the day off work and Maven got out of school at 10:30. We had breakfast out, then came back home and hung out, then we went to a great pizza joint on the way to the game and had a wicked good buffet. Then we got to the game and had the usual ballpark assortment. I let her pick out a jersey type purse/bag to buy for my wife when she comes to games with us, and then after the game we came home and got the whole family to go out and have a consolation dinner at Braums. Greasy hamburgers and ice cream. Rangers may have gotten tarred and feathered today, but we still had fun. The few Rays fans that were in attendance around us were classy and good spirited, not like the Yankees crowds we get down here.
I'm disappointed the Rangers lost, but the sun will still rise tomorrow and I get to do it all over again, but tomorrow my wife will be joining me and Maven will be staying with "Grandma". Will have to DVR the Notre Dame/Purdue game tomorrow night.

Sounds like a great day. Some of my best memories are playing hooky from school and spending the day at the park with my dad. We'll be doing something similar on Monday... he's taking off from work, driving across the state, and making it to game 3 with me over here on the west coast of Florida. Can't wait!
Just got home from Game 2. After a poor start, the Rangers got it together and finally started to pound the ball around. With the exception of Uehara, it was a pretty good all around game. Holland gave up one earned run, and the bullpen with Ugando, Oliver, Adams, and Feliz took care of business. Koji got blasted but it didn't matter. Rangers win their first ALDS game in franchise history at home. Now it's off to the friendly confines of Tropicana Field where the Rangers were 3-0 last year in the ALDS.
Maven getting ready for Game 1 The Rangers were kind of hypocrites on their promotion. Budweiser sponsored the towels on Friday, and when you came in, they wouldn't give them directly to patrons under 21, however, they would give the parents enough for the kids to have them too, LOL.

<< <i>Mike, that is not too bad a view from wear you are sitting. What section is this?
Had a feeling they would drop game 1 but, feel good about the rest of the series. >>
Section 329, it's in the upper deck, but it's got a great view of the field AND it's in the shade during the day games. I like it better than any levels of the outfield and better than most of the 2nd level seats (except the ones that are in between 1st and 3rd) I'm happy with the outcome so far after two games. Going into it, I had them 1-1 after the first two myself, but I had them winning game 1 easily and dropping game 2, LOL, that's why I'm not a professional gambler.
Big blaze at one of our local chemical plants. Thankfully, no one was hurt but there was an 8 block evacuation on all sides of the plant. The picture above is from my camera phone. One of our cities also lost one of our fire trucks, and in a small community like mine, that's a pretty big loss.
Kinda puts baseball in perspective. Rangers are holding on to a slim lead as I type in the 8th, but it kinda really doesn't matter if we win or not. Doesn't matter one iota in the grand scheme of things.
Hey Goot, hope you had fun at the game with your dad. I know it didn't go your way, but hope you enjoyed the experience nonetheless.
Rangers took a 7th inning lead on a Mike Napoli blast and held on for the win. Boy, our mid/late season pitching acquisitions of Uehara and Adams aren't getting it done. Feliz came in in the 8th and got a 4 out save. Price is 0 for 10 in his career outings against the Rangers. He seems to be ok against the rest of the league, but for some reason, the Rangers get to him. Colby Lewis continued his fine playoff form that he exhibited last year. Was good to see.
Rangers take a 2-1 series lead. I had planned to take off tomorrow afternoon to watch the game, but with the days activities, not sure if I'll still be able to do that. Best case scenario, Rangers get it done tomorrw and have a few days rest for either the Yankees or Tigers. Worst case scenario is that I get to go to game 5 here in Texas on Thursday, so pretty much those two options are looking like a win/win situation to me.
Beltre had the line played perfect, the game is tied if that ball gets by him and lead runner is likely at third with Josh Playing the Left/Center gap. I won't comment on the bullpen since we won. I have the winner of this game winning the series, a return to the ALCS is in prime view for Texas. Speaking of prime view do the yankees get to determine start time for being the 1st seed? You would think one of the rangers/rays games would be set for prime time.
<< <i>Speaking of prime view do the yankees get to determine start time for being the 1st seed? You would think one of the rangers/rays games would be set for prime time. >>
I'm not sure, but I think the broadcast networks in conjunction with MLB Commish determines the start times. The Yankees get the prime time games because of their huge following. That's fine with me, they've earned that over the years. Plus they are from the mighty AL East. You know, the division that every one of their teams is better than every team in all other divisions, LOL. We should just be thankful they allow our team from Texas to compete against them in the playoffs.

I took that from a parking lot close to Magna Blend (the chemical plant that burned today) in Waxahachie, Texas. I could see the smoke bellowing from my courthouse balcony so I drove over to see what it was as from the courthouse it looked like it was coming from the college (where my dad works) but thankfully, it wasn't. I have a couple of acquantainces that work for Magna Blend, but they are all fine. Was kind of nerve wrecking until I found out for sure though. Was a pretty amazing site up close. Flames everywhere and they kept rising up into the smoke higher and higher. Everyone was worried about the toxins in the smoke since it was a chemical plant, but the EPA claims it will be ok. Who knows? We'll see.

Yeah it was a great time so in the end it is all good. It just wasn't meant for the Rays today. They had their chances and let them slip away.
That game took FOREVER though. The first 5 innings took 1 hour and 20 minutes...the last 4 took 2 hours and 30 minutes. I'm not complaining because I got my moneys worth, but boy did it drag out.
Behind three home runs from Adrian Beltre, the Rangers defeated the Rays, 4-3, on Tuesday to advance to the American League Championship Series. Beltre became the sixth player in Postseason history to hit three home runs in a game, and the first one to do so in the Division Series.
The Rangers Postseason will continue on Saturday, October 8 against the winner of the American League Division Series between the New York Yankees and the Detroit Tigers.
Bring 'em on! The defending American League Champs await
Congrats to the Rangers and all their fans and to you Dr. Mike. I was hoping your team would advance. I would love to see a rematch of last years ALCS.
Looking forward to the ALCS against Detroit. Congrats to the Tigers fans. Good luck in the series. I hope it's entertaining for fans of both teams. The Rangers and Tigers have been the two best teams in the AL since September 1st, so it's a fitting matchup for the ALCS series.
Now I just have to decide whether to take my wife or daughter to game 1 and a pregame pizza meal at Momma's Pizza
Take your daughter, she will only be that age once in life. I don't have a family but, will always remember going to the games at old arlington stadium as kid. I can't imagine what those memories would bring if the rangers had playoff teams back then.
Do you think the games will be televised since the Yankees and the east coast presence is gone? I heard the planned start times for the games will be 8 am. Wish I had tickets but, I am attempting to raise $$ for one world series ticket.

The games are definitely televised on FOX. That's channel 4 locally. Daverat, there are some people over on the Texas Autograph Club website that are selling some cheap ALCS tix if you are interested in those. Also, for the World Series, last year the Rangers offered some standing room only that were cheaper than regular tickets. Not a bad deal, you can go whereever in the park. I had sit down tix for one of the World Series games last year, and standing room only for one as well. The SRO was kinda fun as I spent some time in different areas, and if you go to the Diamond Club, you can watch the game from their bar balcony and have a cool stool on the rail. Nicer view then some of the high upper deck seats and bar service and instant replays on the monitors.
Rangers box office released limited tickets for the ALCS. I was able to snag one for game 1 behind home plate at face value. It is section 125obv but, it think it is obstructed view. I believe it is next to railing which, won't be too bad considering the view is not angled from the field.

What a fun time at the ballpark tonight. Just got home at 1:45 AM from the game. Two rain delays, one for 41 minutes and the other for 1 hour 9 minutes I believe. The 2nd rain delay seemed much longer than an hour and 9 minutes cause the game was stopped when the Tigers had the bases loaded and 2 outs in the fifth, with the Rangers leading 3-2. Turns out I could have left then and not missed any more scoring. Absolutely fantastic job by the Rangers bullpen and the bats got enough done during the mediocre outing posted by Verlander.
Time for me to hit the sack, gotta be up early in the AM as Maven is singing at church, and then hopefully I can catch an hour or two nap prior to heading back up to the ballpark for game 2.
Rangers lead series 1-0. Magic number of Rangers wins to win the World Series is 7.

<< <i>Where is this at?
>>
Who knows? We'll see.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
<< <i>Hey Goot, hope you had fun at the game with your dad. I know it didn't go your way, but hope you enjoyed the experience nonetheless.

Now I just have to decide whether to take my wife or daughter to game 1 and a pregame pizza meal at Momma's Pizza
Do you think the games will be televised since the Yankees and the east coast presence is gone? I heard the planned start times for the games will be 8 am. Wish I had tickets but, I am attempting to raise $$ for one world series ticket.
<< <i>Take your daughter, she will only be that age once in life. I don't have a family but, will always remember going to the games at old arlington stadium as kid. I can't imagine what those memories would bring if the rangers had playoff teams back then.
