Same here in CT, all schools public and private closed, all restaurants, bars and salons closed, both Tribal casinos closed and all businesses must shut down by 8pm. The Walmart in town out of eggs, bread, milk, oj, alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, bleach, tp, etc. I did find eggs and milk at Stop n Shop though. Grateful to still be employed, actually working about 10 hours of OT per week. Gasoline has come down significantly, with my discount home heating fuel is $1.25 a gallon, almost tempted to fill 55 gallon drums for next winter. This sorta offsets my 401k down 26%, looking to buy individual quality stocks when it hits bottom but when is bottom?? Certainly not at this moment, God bless us all.

As far as Oregon goes...reminds me of Tijuana in the 1980's. Tarps and tents, garbage all over the Portland. Why would any business set up shop here-I'll never know. Our Mayor and Governor really have done a fine job.

Rates are even lower than the last crisis and now there is basically infinite cheap money for social engineering & population control via govmint handouts to people who don't even have $500 in savings, particularly those who are younger and/or unemployed. All of this is ripe for what's been going on in Portland and many other cities.
The dollar is the world's reserve currency, and (almost) every central bank on the planet is now doing the same exact thing. Dollar creation is just a debt mechanism. Our latest grocery run: Bagels weren't cooked all the way. Out of onions. Potatoes going bad fast. Canned meat and canned fruit selection low. If you like fruit and wanna keep eating it I recommend getting some now.
We had a life event living in the midwest and needed food support. So we volunteered at the local church's food shelf to get buckets of potatoes and old gas station sandwiches. There were lots of wheat breads nobody liked and stale bagels. But at least they were cooked all the way and still kinda fresh.
Grocery shopping at some of the "high end" places is arguably about the same quality food as what we got back then. We got a few boxes of food here one rough month about six years ago. That food was so much better than what you get in stores now. Fruit and veggies were markedly better back then.
CCI, Speer, Remington and Federal (all $VSTO companies) raised all of their prices April 1st.

It's so much worse than it sounds, too. I just don't wanna sound like I'm embellishing or something for internet points. We heard gunshots again the last few days. It's getting warmer so it's only gonna get worse.
Stores are busy again up here in Mass. Seems like life is returning to normal. There’s a new Starbucks opening in town that is almost complete. My wife and I went to our favorite Italian restaurant last night. We had to wait 45 minutes for a table. Haven’t had to do that for a year, but we were happy to see business thriving again.

Reality is that parts of the country are more open than others. Many people saved lots of money during Covid since they had no income loss, but didn't travel or partake in leisure activities as frequently. So there is some pent up demand. But their are literally tens of millions of people spending their stimulus on all kinds of stuff while continuing to enjoy deferral of rent/mortgage, student loan, and in some cases even auto and credit card obligations. The various Covid bills replaced multiples of the actual income that was lost. How that all gets swept under the carpet remains to be seen.
Busy splitting wood for next winter. The log splitter is the best machine I've ever purchased. (Thanks Stimmy#2). Not much of an idea what's happening out in the public. Seems about the same as it's been the past 6 months or so traffic wise except more and more idiots not wearing masks.
Ten years later, the world stubbornly refuses to end, the dollar won't die, and the economy hasn't collapsed. How's the price of cool silver baubles? Up?
