Two years left before the end of the World, December 21, 2012....are you planning to sell your coins

ambro51ambro51 Posts: 13,922 ✭✭✭✭✭
Now I know....silly. BUT, is it?

Face it, you just dont know, do you.

You think, naw, thats just silly...the world wont end.

Did the people sitting in the twin towers on September 10 2001 think those buildings would be a pile of rubble the next day?

So...you just never know, do you?

Are you making plans? Selling off your coin collection?

Or...just winging it like 99.98 percent of the population?

Is there "something to this"?

I guess we wont know

for another two years

and a day.

Good news is the Bible doesn't talk about the end of the world but it does talk about major change for sure. On a personal level though, our world could come to an end at any time so it is best to live life with that in mind. There may be reasons to sell but not because it is the end of the world. Whatcha gonna do with any cash from the sale anyway.

i would have blown it all at the tables in Reno in May after watching the annular solar eclipse

use gppgle maps to zoom over
  • The Mayans made note of something , however if you ask a Mayan it wasn't anything remotely to do with an end to this world. It's the people selling books that make those claims.
Its known the sun will emit solar pulses for want of a better word , and chances are it could mess up some electronics but they said that in 2000 too didnt they ? Respected scholars reckon it's these solar pulses that were noted as they repeat in cycles. It's amazing how many people think the Mayans somehow mysteriously disappeared , no , they are still there right where they should be and telling us this end of the world bs is nothing to do with them.

The Mayan worker that initially created the calendar unexpectedly died as he finished the calendar for the year 2012. After his death he was replaced by a member of the local calendar writers union. There were contract negotiations, promises made, intentions unfulfilled... regretfully, through all the efforts of the union to protect their member from being mistreated, there was no time for the worker to continue work on the calendar. Now you know the rest of the story.

I find it difficult to believe that anyone places an iota of credence in this claptrap. What rubbish. Neither calendar nor book (and I do not care what book you cite) has any credible effect or influence on our existance - NONE whatsoever. No one can predict the future and only the 'tin foil hat' crowd lends any credence to this garbage. Cheers, RickO

Yes, the planets will all be in line, which in turn will create title waves, earth quakes, total destruction and we WILL all die !!! I don't know what I'm going to do image

  • There is no denying that life as we know it will end sooner, rather than later by some cataclysmic natural event beyond our control. Earths history is well documented to this effect. Predicting when, is another matter all together that will be borne out of scientific conjecture whether already determined by the Mayans planetary alignment or yet to be found. It is going to happen. The end is near!

What confounds me is the relative short existence of human intelligence in respect to evolution of other species. I wonder, will artificial intelligence save or destroy us first?

Thinking about the people taken out by meteorites, there was a woman in CT. in the first half of the 20th century (I can't remember exactly, but somewhere in the 1935-55 range) who was serving tea at her house. As she was handing over the teacup and saucer to a guest a meteorite plowed through the hostess' roof, directly through the teacup/saucer, through the table top, and buried itself into the floor between the hostess' foot and the guest's foot. Nobody was hurt. An inch to either side the hostess would have lost her hand/arm or either of the two ladies would have lost a leg.

If the true end of life will be at hand, then nothing really matters. If on the other hand

a more modest series of misfortunes should occur, I will stock emergency supplies in

2012 just in case. My expectation is, that nothing out of the ordinary will happen, much

    like the millennium crisis.

You might want to trade your coins for bullets.

As for me, I fully expect Dec. 22, 2012 to arrive as expected.

  • So the Mayan calandar stops on 12/21/12. Ours stops on December 31st. What happens then ? It starts all over with January 1st. My thinking is that on December 22nd, 2012 the Mayan calandar will start all over again. At least I hope it will.

  • Theres an elephant in the room here methinks , if the Myans were so adept at predicting the future as is the current trend , why couldn't they predict their own demise or the Spanish with all that ensued ?
If i could tell the future id start with mine in the here and now , not in 600 years time.Oh wait , i can predict the future in 600 years time , every single one of us will be panbread.

They almost had it right with the Spanish. I don't know if it was the Aztecs or the Mayans. But in a certain year sacred White Men would arrive from the East by sea. It being the right year, sentries were placed on the coast to welcome them. That is how they first met the Spanish, but things went downhill fast.

    EDIT:

It turns out modern historians take a dim view of this story.

  • I believe Albert Einstein was concerned about this date also. Not for the same resons as the Mayans though. He was concerned that the Gravitational effects of the lining up of the planets, could cause one or more planets to shift on there access when this event took place. He was still working on this when he died.

Einstien understood Gravity better then anyone before him or since him. If he was concerned then so should we be.

This isnt the first time the planets have aligned though
  • If anyone is interested just google Nibiru and it's dwarf star. Or Einstein's Polar Shift.

Even if it was going to happen (It's Not) Who in this world would even take precautions are even be concerned ? Everything would be Bye Bye.
