I am actually a little proud of my role in civilian space flight. It took the XPrize, and us competitors, for NASA to do what it is doing now. Years ago on this forum, I posted a link to a suspiciously low BIN auction for a '61 Aaron PSA 9. Another member came in and said he had recently bought that card at a major catalog auction (I forget which), and it was a stolen scan. He emailed eBay and told them that it was a scam auction and that he owned the card, with a link to where the scan came from. eBay sent him back an email saying that the auction was legitimate and he should feel free to bid with confidence. eBay's "customer service" may have been modeled on George Carlin's explanation of what customer service means.
Gecko, has anyone ever outlasted you on a back and forth thread like this?
I think it's fine that you want to play the role of fireman-turned-alchemist-turned-philosopher by addressing the question of when (or if) it's ok to lie, but aren't you supposed to be fighting fires or something? I'd hate for somebody's condo to burn down on account of you and Patrick kicking each other in the nuts.
In arguing with Gecko, you get a point every time he questions your reading skills and comprehension ability. That's when you know you have him on the ropes.
The best pitch to start a hitter off with is always strike one.
"I seriously hope that anyone who decides to enter into a deal with Patrick in the future remembers exactly what was claimed here."
Just for anyone's information I have done many deals with Patrick over the last few years. Patrick has been up front and honest with every deal we have made. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to make any deals with Patrick.
This thread definitely went off-course, but I only want to state that I asked that seller a question about the '52 wax pack that she mentioned she had.
After she corrected that it is a PSA 5 (and sent me the picture) and not a PSA 4, she wrote... "I prefer paypal i can send a money request for services and you can have the card by november 10th if you pay asap. Another option could be sending a bank check to my lawyer and he couriers over the card same day. Im thinking $2600 is a fair price."
FYI, she uses an email address "Usamarinesrecruit@..."
I don't think I will be sending them 26 cents, I mean $2,600.

<< <i>Patrick.....simple yes or no question. Do you own the card in question...the 1951 Bowman Mantle PSA 8? Just answer the question with honesty and integrity. >>
Yes. >>
I seriously hope that anyone who decides to enter into a deal with Patrick in the future remembers exactly what was claimed here.
<< <i>Do you have proof that he does NOT own it? >>
And do you actually believe he owns the card?
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
